Where did my oil go? Help!!
Here's the deal.
Ever since I got my GSR. I've probably done 4-6 oil changes (changed every 2500-3K miles). I'm sure the previous owner used cheap **** they use at Jiffy Lube, since he didn't know **** about cars. I've only been using Mobil1 Full Synthetic 10w30.
Since my last 2 oil changes, I've knowticed that every 1500 miles after the oil change, I lose ~ 1qt (burned?). I don't knowtice any soot or black residue around my bumper area near the tailpipe, nor any white smoke while driving.
So I'm thinking it's due to the change from regular oil to full synthetic oil. But that's just a guess. My motor runs strong. It's only got 94K on it. Anybody got any idea's how I should go about solving this problem?

my car was doing the same thing. i decided to try castrol gtx high mileage. it cut down on the oil burn off alot. i put on 1500 mile since oil change and no loss. i would say you can try that it worked for me. if you want to stay synthetic maybe try royal purple. i heard that if you burn oil with royal purple something is wrong with the car. good luck.
You should definately stay synthetic. You never switch back once you run synthetic.
Try replacing the pcv valve, and checking for oil in the coolant and vice versa. Also oil consumption is common in all vehicles. So if your not blowing out smoke then you'll be ok as long *** you keep it topped off. BTW how many miles on the motor?

What's the mileage on your motor?

Like I said above, the motor's got 94K. I want to stay synthetic, but I am not going to spend 8-10 bucks a bottle of royal purple. Don't mean to sound clueless, but where is the pcv valve? On the intake manifold right? haha
Oh and there is no oil in my coolant. My headgasket is still good.
Anybody else got any more ideas/recomendations?

valve seals?
VTEC engines have a reputation for burning oil if ran hard.
Do a compression/leak-down test. If its all fine then you don't really have any problems. If it starts to consume large quantities, then you may want to be concerned.

False. This is a very common myth.
The only disadvantage to going back to "normal" oil is that you may experience a little gasket leak. My brother went from N/A with 10w30 synthetic to F/I with 10w30 conventional, with no problems.

That's exactly the reason you don't want to switch back to conventional. No leak is a good leak. All you're doing is creating issues for down the line.
