clutch slave cylinder install
does anybody know if its hard to install a new clutch slave cylinder on a 5th gen accord EX? should i try to do it myself or would it be better to have a shop do it?
takes 10 mins to install, and like 20 minutes to re bleed the system. it's cake, just time consuming. just 2 bolts holding it onto the trany, MAKE SURE you use a Flare wrench, it is 10mm i believe for that fitting, and 8mm for the oem bleeder valve. the one i got from autozone used a wacky 9mm bleeder valve, that was fun...
ill have to check the fittings on the one i got. Not sure of its brand. just an aftermarket one i got off of tasauto.com because it was over half as much as the honda oem one. Never have bled a system, clutch or brake so i may be asking for some advice on doing that. My local shop wants to charge me 60 bucks labor to do it.

Wow I think I just got screwed big time.
I just got my car back today from the car shop and according to the invoice they claimed it took 1.5hrs of labor at $60 an hour which was $90 total. Plus another $90 for the master clylinder and slave......

im not advertising for tasauto i just use them as an example because i dont know of many good sites to get products for my accord other than that one. But with them, there is about a $40 difference with the oem Honda slave cylinder and the aftermarket one that i bought on that site. Yeah my shop told me it would take no more than an hour to do the swap of the slave cylinders at $60 labor/hr. But according to Superorb, it should take no more than 30 min.
plus, they might be tryin to screw me in the first place. About a week ago, i lost pressure in my clutch. I had to put it to the floor before i got any pressure in the clutch and could shift. Next day i checked and my fluid had gotten too low. I refilled it and the next day i brought it to the shop. They bled the system a bit and said that my slave cylinder had a leak. I've been driving it for the last week and have had no more problems with clutch or clutch pressure. And my fluid has not gone down. But in the back of my mind, i am worried that it may happen again and ill be stuck somewhere. Does anyone know if they have a history of going bad?

That's about the right price for a master and a slave. If it was just the slave then it would be less than an hour but with the master it takes longer.
