Drove 92 Accord into water, auto-tranny shifter won't budge
If you ever get an urge to submerge your vehicle into water that is just above freezing, don't. Because then you'll have to push it out, hook a chain up to it, and steer it with about five inches of water on the floor until you get home, only to discover that you've destroyed the ECU, and quite possibly other things, once I get it up and running I'll know more. Now, back to the shifter not budging. It's completely locked up, and won't move either when I have the key turned over, nor when I have the key stuck in the shifter release. Now, the shifter was working prior to this. I'm located in Ohio, and I had the car outside in the freezing cold, and the shifter worked fine. I had my car in a garage then, pulled it outside, and now the shifter won't budge, but the car does start and the dash indicator blinked on D4 telling me I get to spend some cha ching on a new ECU. But anyways, does anyone have a clue as to what may be wrong? Obviously something may have frozen, but I need to know where to look. All help will be appreciated.
Look at your tranny cable that goes from your shifter to your tranny. Then look at the components of the shifter itself, you maybe have rusted them out or something. Then look at your Tranny's ECU...it's probably done as well.
Also, do human kind a favor and don't reproduce.
