Default little problem with dvd and monitor

bought a monitor and a seperate dvd player...

i have video and audio.. but i cant control the volume(no **** on dvd player).. i turned all my gains down on my amps and crossover so its not very loud..

i was told i had to use a cd player to adjust volume(from crutchfield people.. and some kid at circuit city) .. so i have my kenwood mp3 player.. how do i go about hooking up the dvd to the mp3 player to adjust volume.
heres some pics to help.. and show u all the imputs and all. thanks

you need this:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-v...50900

Its an auxillary input adapter that plugs into your CD Changer plug... then you run RCA's from your dvd to your receiver, and that will control the volume...

I assume you just ran your RCA's from the DVD player to your amps, right?

no its not. if you saw the piece scrapin put up, you plug that into your headunit. then you plug the dvd players audio output into that. now when you hit source on your kenwood head unit the dvd's audio will be controled by the kenwoods control.
