97 check engine light
My 97 Accord 2.2 V-tech w/135k check engine came on . Had it scanned & code PO401 recirculation flow insufficient. Pulled EGR & cleaned & cleared codes & drove for a week & light came back on. Replaced EGR control solenoid(green & white round plastic valve) on drivers fender. Cleared codes & drove for 4 days light came on with same code> There is no way to cheat this in NY state as OBD2 is directly linked to Albany for our mandatory yearly inspection. Car does have filter kit & pipeing for the last 2 years & light never cam. Code doesnt tell you what to replace. Should I replace EGR valve & how much are they. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It could be the EGR runners in the intake are plugged up, there are 2 ways to go about cleaning them....one way is to remove the intake enough to get in there and 'rod' out the egr ports...the other way is to clear stuff out of the way and drill down thru the intake, clean out the ports, then reseal the drilled holes.
take it to the dealer,it is under warranty for 15yrs or 150,000 miles. You will also get a free oil change and plugs cap, rotor, wires. It is service bulliten 98-081,extended emmissions warranty.Bet you did not know that
