Default car goes, baaaaaaaaaaa ba ba ab ab baba ba ba at 1/8 throttle

and then when i press the gas peddle a little more the spuddering goes away. but only when the throttle is a little bit open, does it sputter bad. im thinking it is something with the TPS???

does fuel grade have an effect on this...low end sputtering thing?

it is a b16 swap. '90 dx hb

thanks.

have you extended your o2 sensor wires or anything like that?

i have the same sputter, so does my friend with a 92 civic b16, i have a crx b16... ive been tryin to figure this out forever, WITHOUT swapping the wires.. i feel theres a 'better' way out there... i'm really starting to believe its the lack of 2 o2 sensors, how many do you have?....

I diconnnected my o2, car ran better then ever.. and yea i tested it driving over an hour straight, never acted up once.. next day i rewire it... bam stutter

so what happened to the gas milage when disconnected? i only have one, on the first part of the manifold.

someone said something like, its becuase the car went from single fuel injection to multi port, or something? i dont really know.

really, i typed in b16 tps, words like that. everything i found was irrevelant or if not probably above my honda knowledge level. what did you type in?

and they are talking about the tps sensor with just two wires right? right near where the butterfly is right?

thanks.

What could be better than correctly wiring a sensor? It's not a hack or anything, it's because the tps on the DPFI cars turns the other way, so you must correct for this when you plug into a MPFI tps.

the way i've heard it explained, it sounded like a temp fix nobody knew why it fixed it... now that you enlightened me with WHY/HOW it works,

yeah, it doesnt give a reason, like someone told me that they should be reversed, but, i am not going to trust someone and **** up my computer becuase i reversed some wires that i shouldnt have,
but since he said that the dx's throttle rotor spun the other way, well that is all the proof i need.

so i switch the two outer wires correct?

thanks all.

any time you switch two wires on the same connector youre most likely reversing polarity, so i thought it was obvious, im sorry.

that is obvious. but i would have trouble just beliving someone that this is right and run the risk of messing something up. reversing polarities could be a dangerous issue in a car. that and there are three wires.

well i was going to do it real quick today when i had my break between classes, but the wires were so tight in there i will get to it tomorrow.

from what it looks like, if i remember correctly, the middle wire is red, the outer two are black and blue striped black.

it appears that the red i would guess is VCC, and is feeding into the sensor, and one end is grounded (i would guess the black wire) and the other is the output reference to the computer. so i will probe the middle tomorrow if it says 12 volts or close, and the other is continuos with ground, i will reverse the otuer two. i dont really care that much just wanted to make sure since i have so much other stuff going on with my car.

thanks all.

figured id replay rather then repost a new topic...
I need some more knowledge from you experts here...

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by thatbluecrx &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">i have the same sputter, so does my friend with a 92 civic b16, i have a crx b16... ive been tryin to figure this out forever, WITHOUT swapping the wires..</TD></TR></TABLE>

I swapped my TPS wires and it fixed my car 100% (going strong for a week now lol)..

Now my question is, my boy with the 92 civic b16s original motor was already multi point... therfor shouldnt his TPS be correctly wired already???...

His o2 readings are 1200-1900 on the shops computers, that tell you anything??? His stutter is almost identical... dont know what to do..

also when he disconnected his o2, the car ran like absolute ****, when i disconnected my o2 it ran the same/better..

i fixed mine too everything is perfect. i would think it matters which way the throttle rotor turns, not really what kind of fuel injection it was before. and obviously, ours have been ran for a while bass ackwards, so it wouldnt hurt (except the wire splicing) to try.
