Default Stupid ? - Is there anyway to keep the immobilizer function w/ an OBD1 conversion?

I'm thinking No. But then again, I don't really know how it works, other than its ECU controlled. I'm thinking maybe you can swap some microchips, and have it work...

hey, u figure if honda's engines swap so easily, maybe their ecu components can too

reason I ask is, well, I'd prefer a hondata system over a VAFC, since I'll end up doing more mods later down the road...and obd2 isn't really what you'd want when doing such mods...but then again, i sorta want to hold onto the goodies of obd2 like the immobilizer...

I have one, and i'm pretty sure it has an ignition kill...But, with the immobilizer, you'd have to defeat the alarm, then the factory immboilizer too right? Or would deafeating one or the other take out both at the same time?

immobilizer is a VERY simple bypass, not worth keeping.

yup.

Toda Party, you have three options: lose the immobilizer and key chip function with an obd1 ecu, keep the stock ecu and wait for hondata to come out with a chip (unlikely to happen), or get the obd2 v2 chipped by someone like erick's racing (I think they chip obd2.....)

HOW CAN YOU GUYS BE COOL WITH THIS TOPIC BUT NOT MY TOPIC ABOUT THE OBDI AND THE IMMOBILZER?

I posted a very similiar topic and I got grilled for it, and then it was deleted. I suppose this topic's okay though, right? Funny , really. I asked if an ITR was converted to OBDI would it lose the immobilzer and a bunch of guys came on here and ripped me for asking. They say it's a security issue, and that posts like this show the common theif how to steal their ITrs and whatnot.

I can't figure out how this post is any different. Well? Oh wait I see. Toda Party is a longstanding member, which is cool, but I guess since I've not been here long enough or since I don't own an ITR my question was stupid. Okay I guess.

Okay genius's...how do you bypass the immobilizer? I do not want to do it, but I have heard from several trustworthy sources (no, not sales people) that it is VERY difficult to bypass the immobilizer on the 'R'.

Uh...sorry? Maybe its because I don't talk like an *** when I post Besides, this thread has only been up for a short time...im sure those ppl when they see this topic will say soemthing of similar nature

Thanks guys. I was pretty much going to sacrifice the immobilizer and go OBD1 anyway, I was just seeing if there was any way to keep it..but seeing as it is easily bypass-able and i'll have some other security functions, i guess its not too big of a loss

You can call me an ***, but my IM me genius was for ITR0677, not you. He called us genius first, so i used his own statement to tell him to IM me.

Sorry if you took offense, and please show me where I was being an *** - thanks.

OK, I have a question now. So who can reprogram the stock '00/'01 ITR ECU's, and about how much do they run?

There's a way to get the immobilizer to work well in ITRs, bypassing the way theives bypass it.....

Terry,

Here you go: http://www.ericksracing.com/

Click on products, then click on ecu reprogramming. At the bottom you'll see they can reprogram the obd2 ecu's (p73 is what you're referring to, right?).

You can't have the immobilizer system with an OBD1.
