Don't buy an HID system based on the color of it. If you're buying it to get the most out of it, you'll want one that produces the most lumens.

And what do you mean by what "kind" of system is the S2000? Are you asking brand? Like Phillips? Hella? etc....

Check out http://www.hidforum.com

All the info on HID systems you'll probably ever need.

The colors you see also have alot to do with the housing the HID's are in, my CL-S has no projectors in the housing, but it has stock xenon HID's, it comes out as a purple/blue color but isnt very focused and can look like non-HID's sometimes when they've warmed up fully...the S2000 however has a projector lens that can appear to be MANY different colors. BMW's use a projector lens but also use a higher lumens setup so it gives it that purple color, if you go back at look at the late 90's Lincoln MarkVIII they have BRIGHT purple HID's in their non projector housing, i think they are one of the only companies back in the 90's that used HID's in their cars that wasnt exotic, and i believe they were 10,000k.

In the S2000's projector, you can get even the cheapest system and have great visability lighting, i think you can get them for as little as $300 for a decent system (dont buy those $199 deals because from what i hear, the ballasts go out easily).

I bought a set of CATZ HID's for my 4-Runner last year before i sold it, installed them with no modification to the housing and it gave me incredible visibility compared to stock...it also probobly blinded a few people so yeah, iwth the projector though you dont have to worry about that.

Yes...lol, the most lumens basically brings it closest to natural light or something, so basically, more lumens, more natural color light and better visability. Honestly though, if you just put a set of 4300k in there, you'll be just fine and you wont be spending a ton of money on the HID system...i mean the stock headlights in the S2000 are already bright as ****.

but wouldnt you be able to see better with like a 12000k system? it is like 3 times more lumens than the stock and they sell for almost the same price.

heh...i can honestly say that i've never heard of a 12,000k system, and from what i understand, when you have higher light ratings on the systems, the prices are usually higher...

check out this link its has some pics of my s2k retro. the output of the light is from a 4100K bulb. the color come from the projector lense. the light is bent when it comes out of the projector lense giving you the nice blue/purple color. if you notice on most oem hid projectors headlights changes from a white to blue/purple color from different angles. anything that is above 4300K is just a waste of money.

Just some information for you.
The higher the Kelvins the lower the lumens will get.
K doesn't equal Lumens.
Kelvin’s is the light temperature.
4300K is the brightest luminosity you can get for HID application.

Just pick up OEM HID

^^^

As stated.

Kelvins are in reference to color, and not brightness. The higher the lumen; the brighter.

NEVER go past 6k. After 6k the light that we can see goes away and it looks dark blue. Why do you think most cars are 5k or less? On that note, I have a set of stock S2K ballest and HID bulbs F/S

How much? How many miles/hours did you use them for?
Very interested.

People go to 10k for the bling factor. I like the look its purple. I thought about it.

I hear stock last for about 7 years or so, there is always a chance of blowing before then.

I think it's 2000 hours for HID bulbs. While regular halogens last around 300 hours.

I could be wrong.
