Does anyone actually autocross/drag with the Azenis?
Sorry about beating the Tire topic to death...
Does anyone use these tires for autocross, drag, or even track events? Just wondering, it seems like a lot of people use them as daily's, then switch to R-compounds for whatever event they are participating in...Me, being poor, can only afford a *street* tire for the all-around task for autox/drag/track(if i ever make it to an event)..that will wear slower than the RE010's
So...if anyone has had experience with the Azenis in these situations, how do they performs (versus the RE010's)...would you reccommend something else, perhaps teh S-03's?
Anyway, TIA

Hit up davidnyc, he has a set of them....and you know how much he autox.
I plan on running the Falkens this next year in the new STX class for autox and also on the track for 1 or 2 events...
I know other people have used them on the track (George, Ross maybe) and I'm sure they'll speak up...

he didn't install the azensis yet. he still has some life left in the 712's, so my guess is in the spring he'll have a review for you.

You will be happy with these tires.......they are just good
Falken Azenis
Well, I don't have experience per se, but I LOVE telling the story of a bolt-on GS-R on Azenis beating an F355 on Hoosiers at a fast autocross

J if you want you should also post this in the Competition forum and link it to this post.
I know there are a bunch more guys there running Azenis and all with the favorable response already posted. They are great tires and for the $$$ I don't think you'd go wrong.
The other tire to look out for this year will be the Khumo Ecsta V700 I'm quite curious about it's performance. So is Dave BTW he IS the Khumo man, "J/K ..."
Good luck, from one who'll be on Azenis this spring too.

Nice!
Oscar- i forgot you were running them, i should've asked...doh
Thanks george for the reply...wow I didn't think they'd be that much better...the cheap price made it a little shady...when I looked at the tread, it did look similar to the A032Rs..but i couldn't tell if the compounds were similar as well, seems like they are....
I probably wont have any rubbing problems considering i'll be on 205/50-15 rubber...
well, im sold. azenis it is

I've been praising these things since day one and I have yet to hear from a person whose been disappointed after switching to these tires.
have fun!

but they stick better than A032R. <--Hearsay, but from reliable people
No -- the Yokos are noticably stickier.

For those that don't want to spend the $ for R compounds, and doesn't have to be the fastest out there, but still wants a fun, very grippy tire, I can't think of a better choice...
.....ok, azenis vs. s02 or s03?
Anyone?
Anyone?
i figured whatever comes out to be cheaper, since they're both supposedly kick ***
I never try the S-03 however, with that price tag on the Azenis ($60s) and the perfromance it has......I just can't find another tire can compare to it.
Anyway, I like the Azenis lot more than the stock RE-010. The Falken has a much better sidewall than BS. ( a plus for AutoX ) and very grip at the track.
I simply killed my RE-010 after 2 days in Lime Rock ( the tires cannot stand the heat and crack up) but with the Falken....now after 2 days in Summit Point, 2 days in NHIS and.....up to 10 AutoX it still perfrom !!
Btw....I got better braking perfromance after using 205/50/15 instead of stock size.
Jason....if you want a good perfromance tires and also on the budget, Azenis is a good choice.

This may not be the right forum, but who have drag raced on these tires? I wanna know how they do. I know it's not the correct tire choice for the application, but I will soon be flexing a lot of power from my car, and the real problem is going to be getting traction on the street. I do realize that with upwards of 350whp, I'm going to spin no matter what tire I run, but the more I can minimize that cheaply, which the Azenis are, the better. Anyone have any input?
I've run them both on road course and drag and have nothing but praise for them. I have 16's w/ volk te37s, and ran them all season last year. I didn't like them in standing water over 75mph, but othrwise the are very nice. They feel very much like an r compound but a little more progressive on break away...(ie forgiving) and a whole lot quieter than a032r that for sure...I used to think I had race bikes chasing me down the road with those on my car buzzing away
funny....
yes get them and enjoy....

PS: Jason, haven't yet seen you at NHIS...what do you run there??? not often to come across another honda there except ed sawyer's.....

I use the Azenis for daily driving and I used 'em at the 01 ITR Expo. I didn't like the way my car ran with 'em at the last autocross I attended

It is very possible....we had a Ferrari club showed up at our SOLOII event thinking everyone's gonna kneel down and kiss their shoes. Like kids that think they can dunk with a pair of Jodans, these ppl think they are faster than everyone just because they have a Ferrari...on the street maybe, I think it should take minimal effort to drive fast on highways even for the most ungifted individuals.
Result: All Ferraris went to the last 5 or 6 spots of the RAW score. Well, they argue that they don't understand the course since it's their first day. I don't want to be stereotype...but all of them were DNF for the whole day!

Juss wanna add my 2cents...
G3-TEG from C-speed finds them to be quite good for drag....
and we've done our own romping around on mountain roads and the limits of the Azenis are definately lower than that of the 32R...however at the price they are offered at....you just can't beat them....
better than 010...
