Default built ls turbo vs ls\v turbo

I know this gsr vs ls has been discussed before, but I'm wondering if a fully built ls would really outdue a ls\v. Both on the same turbo and everything else constant. I'm debating on building a ls or lsvtec really. I'm having trouble deciding cause I saw this graph of a built ls (on boosted-hybrid.com pg.2 dyno's) with 8.5lbs make 300hp and plenty of torque. I could save the money and just build my ls instead of going vtec, but wanted opinions. Money is a major factor as well, don't say go vtec and go all out cause I'm talking about budget boostin'. In other words best bang for the buck. build ls head or just go vtec. Don't post if you feel this is a dumb question and yada yada yada....just real responses please. Thanks

about 2 months ago i was asking myself the same question. Then i decided to do ls/vtec turbo because with the turbo im using i feel that it will be more fun because a larger powerband. you can make however much power you want out of either ls or ls/v, but i think it comes down to which turbo your using and where / when you want power. correct me if im worng.. just my 2cents
Also, im on a budget too, but i figure it will only push the start up date back a few weeks..but it will be worth it.

I also own a da and I've been jumping back and forth through this for a while. Vtec does have a larger powerband and I was wondering if that would make it any better on the street compared to a long geared ls with the same amount of power? I will base my turbo on what motor I build most likely. I like the idea of having a built ls with cams, but I don't know if I should just go vtec instead. Some say they like vtec better and some say after vtec they wish they just went ls instead. That doesn't help me any, so I guess I'll have to decide sometime soon. I have a gsr head (might not use it) and I will be building the ls bottom end within the next 2 months. Well thanks for the reply, anyone else?

another thing to consider since your on a budget is that if you already have the vtec head then you can put your money somewhere eles, opposed to putting cams and stuff into a ls head... which still might not flow as much as a vtec head.

save yourself $400 at the least and stay with non- vtec..go fully turbo built and if you want to go cheap just feed it some NOS!

i think ls vtec turbo is asking for trouble. either try to get a JDM siR-g swap and build it for N/A or build your LS for a turbo and crank up the boost.

I'd say boost the **** out of the LS. A friend of mine just completed a LS/vtec build and his ride has had nothing but problems because the a$$hole that built it fu#ked everything up. He has another guy working on it now and it should be running right soon. If you do LS/vtec then make sure that you know what your doin or make sure that your mechanic is legit. Good luck either way. Keep us posted.

yeah I try to take into consideration that I already have a gsr head, but I might try to find a block for it or sell it. I'm still taking out my old ls which is in pretty good shape too. I might just tinker with it and the gsr head later. either way I'm still looking for a ls head with built valvetrain and a p&p. I haven't got anykind of prices on a p&p yet, but I plan on finding someone pretty soon. I think I'll be putting the valvetrain in myself and got a decent price on the springs if I can't find a package deal. I think the ls is cheap and affordable especially if something happens to it. I also already have the computer, manifold, and dizzy for it on the car. I'm not too worried about a lsv being unreliable if built right, but this is my daily. Vtec **** is expensive too, so building a ls head is just about as much as finding a computer, dizzy, conversion kit, and other misc stuff for it. That's why I posted cause I think the cost will be about the same after it's all said and done. Thanks for the reply fellas
