Pics from 2004
I am bored so I am gonna throw up some pics from 2004.
In testing in June I had a inner joint failure, in top gear, going about 140mph. The half shaft separated and took out the entire right side suspension, upper/lower link, shock, spring, everything. It was a crazy ride as that wheel had all the freedom in the world to do whatever it wanted, and it did. The only thing that helped me what that the car slammed down as the spring broke (transverse leaf), driving both wheels into the wheel wells and preventing the bad wheel actually finding a way to come off the car as it was only being held in by the trailing arm pivot bolt.
It was a freaky ride, not something I want to repeat, ever, I basically had no control over the car, I don't like that, especially at that speed. It took the car out for the rest of the year, we are currently rebuilding it will alot of new/better stuff to prevent this from happening, including shaft looops!
This is a pic of it afterwards, we put a spare spring and **** on to get it around, if it wasn't there the wheel would be on the ground.

We then concentrated on going stock car racing. I don't like it, but man do I have a new respect for it. Its hard racing, we did a Late Model tour locally. One thing about these cars, you HAVE to have a good setup out of the trailer or you are screwed. The driver cannot drive around a bad car, period, the cars are so close, anything bad kills you. You think road racing is lots of work? This stuff is insane, body work constantly and they race constantly too.

In the meantime I worked one race with a Trans-Am team as a mechanic for Ron Fellows. A good friend is the data engineer on the team and he hooked me up (he is also my co-driver in our car when he is here) .
It was awesome, I got to do alot more than I thought, I kinda figured I was going to be cleaning wheels and ****, but it didn't go like that, I was on the car right away. I have worked on these type of cars for years anyway so it wasn't too bad. Our stuff isn't this nice or advanced, TA cars are quite something, more than I thought. Working with Fellows was very cool, such a cool guy, he tells some VERY interesting stories. All in all it was great, super bunch of guys to work with, incredible cars, its hard, demanding work, but so worth it. I hope to do more with them in 05.
I am closest to the camera in this pic, Pre-grid for the race.

Some of these are from Motorsport.com, of the weekend I was there.

With the Corvette out I did some racing in a FF1600, fun cars, the ultimate "momentum" car, very quick, I had a good time in it. I still prefer the big hp stuff though
I then bought a new solo/track street toy, a 99 SiR, it was a fast as my old 92 Si hatch out of the box with 1/4 of the mods so I was happy, at the track mind you, in auto-x it won't be as quick I don't think.
Thats it, I just wasted a bunch of time, perfect.

Nice pics.
Was your suspension failure at Mosport and will you be driving Mosport this year at all? I'm working towards getting my car fully prepared for the OCC series.
