Default Mugen Headgasket vs. two-layer stock headgasket

Hey guys, I'm considering purchasing a mugen headgasket to get the .4 bump in compression, but several people have told me that I can just use two layers of the stock headgasket (or even one layer?). This seems kinda dangerous like it might lead to a blown headgasket - do a lot of people do this (remove a layer or two from stock headgasket)? Should I just buy the Mugen headgasket?

People have done this without problems (used the OEM HG with the middle leyer removed). Then again, somepeople have ended up with blown head gaskets after doing this. Its sort of a toss up, you know? The Mugen/spoon/cometic 2 layer head gaskets are designed that way from the start and therefore are less prone to blow out. If you have the money, just buy the Mugen piece. Thats what im going to do. If you dont have an extra 130 bucks, but still need that bump in CR go with the DIY OEM 2 layer method.
