Ha. i took out the sound detning material.... it's really loud(even though my car is only half gutted), 5th gear is my friend. I just have gotten used to zoning out how loud it is. When i drive with my gf in the car we have to talk so loud to hear each other.
But my cars not a daily driver so it's not that bad.

Any yes i'd normally have the spare in there but i took it out since my
friends gona take the car to his shop and weld up some holes...

There is so much space back there my gf and i decided we'd take this car when we go camping since we can just put the inflatable mattress back there

You reduce the noise by putting the interior back in, or just deal with the sound. I have my car gutted as well, and I just drive with the windows down as much as possible.

What kind of tires do you have?

Couldnt you gut the car and install dyno mat to reduce the noise???

But i guess it would look bad and wouldnt look as good as the gutted look( Which I like )

You know how much that stuff weighs right? Most people but their cars to reduce weight...What would be the point in gutting it if you are just goin to put all the weight plus more back in?

Well, 'Street_Racer', you take out the sound deadening to reduce weight, not because it looks cool. Adding Dynomat would probably weigh twice as much as the tar did....

How much weight can you really lose by gutting an integra anyways? I think it is marginal, compared to how ugly and useless the car becomes.

I don't think it really save THAT much weight....But I don't think it looks that bad at all gutted...I think it actually looks better. And how is the car useless when it's gutted? You can carry stuff and not have to worry about getting anything dirty...And if you're an *** like me and don't like giving people rides....then it's even better.

by gutting your integra, you pick up the equivilant of almost 20 hp. (check my weight reduction thread for details)

Actually Dynomat weighs about half as much as equal amount of stock tar deadener.

Been there, weighed that.

Removing interior for a track only or frequent DE car frees up a good amount of weight but when you factor in adding all neccessary safety equipment like rollbars, cage, harnesses, etc it's many times almost a wash.

Removing interior for a street car for an "image" is silly imo.

Whatever you do though, if you do ever plan to drive or race in an SCCA or NASA club sanctioned event such as Autocross or Honda Challenge. Be sure to read the rules entirely Before removing such things.

A perfect example of a mod class that allows for many mods is SCCA's Street Mod. But even though you may remove your rear seat and or sunroof and mats and carpets, you still Can't remove the sound deadening tar. I've seen guys that actually needed to go back and re-add what they took so much time to remove.

If they didn't reinstall the junk and they won an event, they could be protested under the rules and their winning/title given up to the next place driver. That'd be a suck way to learn a lesson.

i agree with some people here. gutting actually looks cool. don't get me wrong, i'm a mad weight reduction *****, but as a side affect, i think the looks are nice. and as far as function, you can't beat it! i can put HUGE things in my car that i used to have to borrow a truck for! there is an unbelieveable amount of space in a gutted teg, and it's perfect for taking my **** to school, turning around, and tearing the road a new *******. oh yeah, and i HATE it when people in my dorm ask for rides, and i love telling them i can't AND won't give them rides.

I had mine gutted over the summer while I redid my interior and it was too damn loud. Sounded like driving around inside a cave. I'd only do it on a car that wasn't a daily driver.

yes.. it will be a tid bit less noisy but not much .. my views on gutting a car would be more towards drag. It really dosnt save that much weight for your everyday vech. I know some people perfer the look but i would suggest keeping the interior.

what would be the purpose???

seriously, do you think two piece of foam, just standing there, is going to make all of the noise go away? hahaha no.

I plan on gutting well. nothing.

i have to take the rear seats out, for the roll cage and whatnot. but i plan on making a false floor to cover basically everything else

Gutting a daily driven car is retarded IMHO. It's so damn loud (even w/ stock engine, intake, and exhaust... can't imagine an aftermarket exhaust).

Who really thinks this looks cool??

Between getting my car painted and having to fix a bunch of water leaks, I've driven my car stripped out alot lately, and I hate every minute of it.

And carrying stuff? I'd rather have a flat surface (spare tire cover and seats folded down) than all that uneven surface of the bare metal.

When I moved back home after my 4th year of college, my car looked like this for the trip home:

Packed in there like sardines but it would have been much harder to stack all that stuff in there, I think, if I didn't have that relatively flat surface behind the front seats.

Patrick...... i just packed my car exactly like that just a month ago when i moved.....had no choice! Trying to move everything in one trip....except i had my brother in the passenger seat with a suitcase on his lap and a pillow so he could lean up against the window to sleep for 3 hours until we got to where we were going! LOL

I only like gutting my car if i'm going to the track....then it "makes me feel" like i drive a race car! LOL ...i wish.....

Yeah I also have this really annoying rattle/buzzing in my B-pipe or muffler somewhere that sounds really loud when I accelerate, with no interior in the car. If I have all the interior parts in I can barely hear it, sometimes not at all.
