Default How hard is it to reinstall the stock deck?

Again, I look for help from the H-T audio gurus.

I don't know very much about audio installs so bare with me.

My girl is selling her GSR and we need to take the aftermarket CD player out. This was to be done for free from Best Buy, where she bought the deck from. However, the next date they can do this is almost 3 weeks away!!!

What is involved in taking the deck out? Do I need to remove some of the dash to get behind any mounting brackets? I'm capable of doing this but want to know ahead of time the amount of work involved. The car is going to be sold within a week so we can't wait for best buy.

My guess is since we are putting the stock deck back in the car, they gave us some bogus date.

because integras use the double-din hole beneath the climate control, it's cake

just tug on whatever's in there until it pops out...no need to remove any dash plastic.....next, just unplug, and re-plug the OEM radio into the connector....dont forget the antenna (big black wire with a single prong)

simply push it in and listen to it lock into place....that's it

another thing, some people will screw the oem radio into the stereo-chassis of the car, but this is optional....you can do this, but it will require taking out all of the under-cupholder plastic and just screwing one screw into the center bracket behind the radio

imo, it's a 20 minute job max

"simply push it in and listen to it lock into place" Just like most Honda/Acura OEM HUs they do NOT lock into place, the back support has to be used to keep the HU from falling out the first time you step on the gas 94

See the inital plan was to just tug... but it's not my car so I figured I'd ask. It should have some kind of backbrace from the factory because when vtec kicks in...

Thanks guys!

1. if it is backbraced, then you'll know because the aftermarket install kit itself will not slide out easily....common sense....

2. when re-installing the oem radio, the double-din integra stereos lock into place, the single-din-pocket style may not, so you may have to backbrace it...your call, just as stated earlier....it's a simple job, dont make it seem so complicated kids
