If you have a pm6 ecu chip that with new fuel maps or run an rpm switch or run a vtec controller like vafc or fields. Still converting to obd1 is recommended and will give you the best results...
is there any cheaper way then a vtec contoller. i just spend all my money for the parts on the swap. i don't wanna rig anything but i plan on getting a controller once i get money. is it safe to drive the car with out vtec hooked up? thanks
You can run the car without activating vtec, but you will lose power in the higher ranges since the head is designed for vtec. An rpm switch is about 40 bucks from summit racing the only problem with that route is extra fuel is not added when vtec activates, but it still works.
