Gas Mileage for a Civc EX???
Alright, I've had my car for about 2 weeks and I've noticed that I'm sitting on about 220 miles on a half tank of gas... Now, this car would be my first four cylinder... I remember my Grand Am (92 SE, P.O.S.).. I guess I'm not used to getting this kind of mileage. I'm pretty damn sure that my old car would be almost empty by now....

OH yeah a gas mileage thread
In my HX I get about 32 to the gallon. Half a tank on the HX is 220-240ish.
The EX which needs a new timing belt my wife gets 23-24. Half a tank on that sucker is 160 ish
Easy way to tell if you weren't screwed by buying an EX body with a HX engine or tranny is this. Engine code for a EX (or any honda) is located on the block to the right of the header. Should be D16Y8 (EX) If it is D16Y5 (you have a HX engine) and if it is D16Y7 you have a DX/LX engine. Now if it says D16Y8 but you can go 70-72 mph in second, you have an EX engine with a HX tranny. I don't know how fast you should be at redline in the EX with EX tranny in second, I have a tranny issue in my EX so I don't drive it hard.

Still the same tank of gas... Now it's at 262.8 and I'm hovering near the quarter tank line... I drive the highway to work but, I'm generally on the stop and go streets of Downtown Fort Wayne. I really can't explain it either, I started this thread from sheer curiosity.
I'll look at it. Which type of fraud is that? It's gotta be something legal if that's the case. Thanks for the info! I can tell you that I did pay for an EX and all the documents that I signed stated EX, including insurance.

Speed at redline is 60mph on the EX tranny in 2nd gear.

Before I found Honda-tech...
I accidentally put a Hatch back tranny in my car..
smaller bearings... taller gears...
but DAMN I can have high speed in 3rd and stay in my power band for shift to 4th

It's a mixed feeling swap.. but I was desperate for a tranny ... and after getting screwed on ebay... I needed one fast. So I took the first one I found..
2 months later I discovered honda tech ......
I hope my Gas mileage will improve with this tranny

In the winter, I get about 32MPG on the highway with speeds ranging from 65-110MPH averaging 85MPH most of the time. City is about 30MPG. Summer time, fuel economy jumps up to an average of 36MPG highway 32MPG city. Best MPG to date was about 43MPG 2 summers ago. I would draft 18 wheelers everyday@65 to 75MPH on the 40 mile commute to college.
You guys are getting some great numbers!
In my '92 VX I am getting about 265 miles every full tank (I think it is a 7.5 gallon capacity).
Anyone else got numbers for a VX?
