engine bogging down
It might be something minor like fuses, spark plugs or fuel filter and/or(water in gas somehow), or distributor/wires but if it is a JDM ecu then it is likely the Ecu...

That is the dumbest thing I've ever read. Assuming the ecu is at fault because it is jdm??
Your problem could be a number of things. I would check out the simple things like spark plugs and wires first. My '90 civic used to stumble quite badly(at low rpm) because of faulty sparkplug wires. I replaced them, and the problem went away.

shipping of Japenese (from Japan, you know across seas through middlemen from junkyards) this is how Ecu could be damged, is this not a rational presumption? I dygress.....
If your Ecu is chipped, that also may be to blame, if it was done half fast, it happened to me, the POS was from Japan and chipped...just trying to help

well what are you running? is it the b16 or d series motor? either/or what mods are done if any. cause my civic bogs too but its just cause its a slow sohc, i have intake, exhaust and short throw. ya know
Damn, some of these trial users. Its a shame really, almost embarrassing. I really dont think it has anything to do with the ecu. From my recolection, i replaced my plug wires and the sputtering stopped. If this doesnt work rebuild the distributor. ie new pick-up, coil, etc.
Ohh yeah, check the gap on the plugs too dawg, most plugs are already pre-gapped but you never know.

yeh mine was sputtering because i had cheap aftermarket wires on, switched back to OEM and it went away. Then a few days later, it came back, then i replaced the spark plugs and so far it has been gone. I think i have a oil leak that is breaking the connection between the wire and the plug.
