Don't really know about magnaflow, but I can recommend a borla muffler, I have one on my vr6 corrado and it sounds very deep and awesome.

But then again it's on a vr6 not a 4 cylinder sooooo..... stick to import name brands; apexi, greddy, buddyclub, rs-r, so on, so on........

Last I checked VW WERE imports..... One muffler I would recommend would be the Oval style magnaflow. It looks stock and when installed correctly (with the right size piping and a good size resonator) can sound extremely viscous.

I have that muffler....sounds great, although i would highly recommend that you purchase the magnaflow resonator as well. Without the resonator you are still going to have the bumble bee affect! Should you already have a resonator you'll be fine

a lot of the cars that run magna flow usually sound raspy. I don't know why, but from all the cars i heard with those mufflers, thats the way it is. But i hear they flow hella well though for a weld on muffler.

It's most likely cause they don't have a resonator or if they do, and extremely small one.

Mine had absolutely no rasp in it, only a deep tone. I got tons of compliments on how nice my exhaust sounded for a 4cyl car.

I've got that muffler on my car and I think it's too loud. Compared to other straight through mufflers it's quiet, but it's a bit too loud for me. I second the notion of the resonator from Dynamax as well, as mine is just a random resonantor and it has a little of the bumble bee affect. I've got a video of my car doing a burnout, but it'll probably get flamed on HT or I'd host it so you can see how it'd sound on a b18'd Del Sol.

Actually I have a video of my car fooling around on a wet/icey road going through the gears if someone wants to host it I'll send it to them.

Hey what model muffler is that?? It looks nice... not riced and not too stockish. If its NO MORE then 3" i'll look into it. You got the link to it?

Poor designed headers and elimination of the cat can also cause the dreaded Bumble bee rasp, with any muffler...

I have that muffler on my ek hatch. It sounded great with a DC 4-1 header, stock cat and a 22" resonator, but after I swaped out the cat for a straight pipe it got really raspy between 3-4k rpm.

If someone will host my video you'll be able to hear what it sounds like in the cabin of a Del Sol.

And if someone wants to start the flaming, the burnout video is quite impressive too.

I'd have to seriously disagree with the whole "put put" thing. I have a magnaflow muff, high flow cat and 2.5 in exhaust pipe throughout with a stock exhaust mani. When I gun it and the rpms go from 3,500 to 4,500, right about when vtec kicks in, you can hear the sound change and its ******* sweet. The higher you rev it from there the better it sounds. I think you get that raspy sound from any muff you just weld on w/o putting bigger piping in. I highly recomend magnaflow

The sound change is definately there, that's fore sure. But for anyone who is interested in an SQ system, do not buy this muffler. ...although I seriously doubt that anyone reading this even knows what extreme Hi-Fi is even about ($5k CD players, $10K speaker wires, etc), but if they are concerned with it, DO NOT BUY THIS MUFFLER!

I'm looking at getting a Borla muffler after I fix some (actually a LOT) of things on my car that Russ f@c&ed up.
