hehe, if I had my car payed off Id be here too, getting a D series block, and building it peice by peice for when the original dies or I completed the build D... I dunno.. something about keeping all original equipment just strikes me... if anything else, id get a b16, just because it basically would come in my car if it was a SI anyways...
As for exhausts... pleanty... I was gonna get a world sport... I believe thats a apex.. I could be very wrong though.. I was thinking that because everyone said it was about as quiet or more quiet than stock, but had the performance gains of any other for non 500hp engines basically... im all about stealth..

just out of curiosity... how do you know what type fuel you need to run in these cars? I know higher compression needs higher oct. fuel... but I never knew how you all figured what type the car needs.

I love d15's! Whenever anyone local has one for cheap I on it like flies on ****! Right now I got 3 engines sitting in my garage that I picked up. This weekend I'm getting a VX motor that I'm really pumped up about for 30 bucks! Gimme a d15 any day. Just use a ex/si tranny otherwise you won't get anything out of them. I was rocking a cx bottomend and a a6 head and that engine was nice. Too bad it spun a rod bearing but for the price it cost my to build it I'm just gonna build another.
pros would pretty much be that its a very nice engine for the cost, itll be easy to install, since youve got a d series right now, its in your price range, cons would be that its not the most powerful thing out there.. and thats pretty much it I think..
i'm thinking about going turbo d15 so i think that in the end i will spend about the same turboing this as buying a b16 and correct me if i'm wrong but i believe teh turbo d15 will have more power if ur comparing with the money spent
i just got my d15b for a couple of days now. really pulls in a vx hatch. i've been in b16 hatches and my car feels comparable to them up until about 4500rpm. can't beat the price. you can source together a turbo kit using DSM parts for under 500. you CAN get 160-170whp with no problem but like everyone says tuning is key

Funny cuz I went back. A b-series hatch isn't as almighty as you make it seem, but don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind a b18c in my hatch either(you might get a bit disappointed with a b16).

wouldnt run more than 6-7 daily driven and wouldnt exceed 10 or 11psi on stock internals. i personally think ur safer with a D series than a B series. If something ever goes wrong, one simple trip to the junkyard to find a handfull if not more Dseries, you might come by a few B18B B18A. But yes it will last as long as u dont go like more than 6 daily driven and it is tuned
get the jdm d15 and boost that baby
We had a friend who ran low 13's all day in a 93 hatch, till he blew the motor
But thats cause he went boost crazy, just tune it wit uberdata and u should b fine on 8 pounds
