Default fan switch question

I'm working on a civic that has the fan switch jumped, the fan runs all the time. Does anyone knows in what harness is the fan switch near the thermostat connected

Default Re: fan switch question (fathergoose)

If it's the stock engine then the ECT (engine cloolant temp) near the distributor is for the temp gauge and not for the fan. That ECT varies so you get a varied reading on the gage.

There is another ECT switch for the fan operation that is located on the fairewall side of the engine. It's under the intake manifold and above the oil filter. It's a large plug with 2 wires in it. That ECT doesn't vary like the one for the temp gage. This ECT is like a switch - when the engine coolant heats up the switch closes and the fan comes on.
