So, I need some help...
For one reason or another, the past two years I haven't been able to attend an Evolution School. And for the past two years my performance at autox's has been sort of stale.
My car is set-up mildly aggressive and is mildy fast, so sometimes it's a bit scary at the limit with a curb or grass 10 or 20 feet away.
I've also switched back to Azenis after running half a season on Victoracers. I loved the R-compound's but they covered up a lot of my mistakes and weren't what I needed to get faster.
I had instructors at an HPDE at PR last year and with their help, I was doing way more than I thought I was capable of, so I need to find a way to do that at autocrosses but without an instructor.
Does anyone have some vague or general tips at how to get better? I still go because it's fun and a good way to get my rocks off, but I'd like to improve at the same time.

Unfortunately, WWSCC doesn't allow passengers. IMO, riding with someone who's a bit faster is the best way to learn. You can only get so far on your own. If you'd like, I could co-drive with you at the next SCCA event (where passengers are allowed) and we can ride with each other.

I second that...
I second that...
Take John up on his offer! Get as many experienced people to ride along with you as possible. Then ask to ride in their cars. At least at the HPDEs I instruct, I do not see too many intermed. students take advantage of instructors. I'm sure some of this has to do with an ego thing, but put that aside. It will be much better & easier for you to learn the right things now then try to unlearn bad habbits later. And EVERYONE can benefit from having experienced people ride with them. The learning and use of coaching should never end. (Take a look at the great racers and see how much coaching they still get.)
Another thing, take in-car video. It is worth the money! Often times I think I've hit all of apexes and pushed the car to the limit. But the video does not lie and tells me I still had more room.
Don't put too much pressure on yourself - make sure to have fun and be safe. Speed will come as you learn more and more.
