Default HELP!!!!!!!!

I recently bought a 1989 Honda Civic and I would like to do a B18 swap. I work at a salvage yard, so parts are readily available. My question is, What parts do I need for the swap? I have never done a Honda before. I know i need parts like ECM, wire harness, same series transmission, and mounts. What I dont know is, What parts do I use for exhaust? Am I going to run into any problems when I start hooking up cables and fluid lines? If anyone has any info on any of these topics, please help!!!!

There's more than enough if you search. Most everything will plug up if you get a motor from the same OBD. The hoses will slip on, the exhaust will bolt up, and if you're running vtec you'll have to add a few wires. It's not a big deal. Just add a few inches onto the shift linkage and thats it.

I am a complete retard when it comes to searching for stuff. Where do I search? I don't even know how to tell if the engine i have has VTEC. The engine came out of a 91 Integra. It is DOHC but i dont know if its VTEC. Also is the stock exhaust for the 1.5 gonna be to restricting? I dont have the budget to get a cat back system for the car. Thanks for the help so far!!!!

If a B series engine has vtec, not only will it be written on the valve cover, but on the transmission side of the motor by the end of the inkate cam you can see the vtec solenoid.

In 91 there were no vtec integras in the us, so it is an LS motor, non-vtec. 91 is also OBD0, which is good because that means all your stuff will plug up. No wiring required.

The stock exhaust is restricting for the single cam motor, and the dual cam will be wanting a lot more. I ran an LS motor with my stock exhaust and it was fine, but when I put the 2.5" cat back, I noticed some more traction problems. Put in the motor and stick the exhaust on later, it will be ok.

It just occured to me, is that civic a DX or SI? (or dare I say, STD!) If it's a DX or STD, you have a little wiring project ahead of you to convert from dual point injection to multi point.

The car is a DX. I just found a speedo cluster from an SI at my work. The tough part is, we dont have anymore of these cars here because they dont make any money. When you say STD, what do you mean? Standard shift? I'm an old school gear-head. All this stuff is new to me. Put an old V8 in front of me i can build a 10 second engine, now i want a 4 cyl that can at least do low 13's.

STD is an abbreviation for the standard model I believe. Also like he said already, you will need to convert your car to MPFI first before a swap. There are tons of threads on here about it, a quick search will get you the info that you need dude.

If it came out of a 91, I believe it is a b18a1. That **** pulls hard in a hatch, I loved every minute of that ride. If any engine has vtec, then it should say so on the valve cover.
