what class for scca solo II with these mods
i have a 1990 crx dx
i was in csp with a header, exhaust, strut tower braces, lowering springs, adjustable kyb's, and kumho tires. now that i am doing a mini-me swap and making my car a vtec, what class will i be in? does anyone know?
i know swapping the engine puts me in modified, but what about just swapping the head and making it a vtec? it will still be the 1.5, but now with a lot more power. just thought i would ask before my season starts in a couple of months!

Engine or head swap puts you in Street Modified 2 (if you're region has it), DM otherwise.
Edit: Oh, it's a CRX.

I thought CRXs (and any other 2 seater) were not allowed in SM. That would put it in Modified classes, i'm not sure which one though...
Sorry, you're street mod.
Edit: JSI is right. No 2 seaters in street mod. There is a SM2 class proposed that would catch all the 2 seat cars like MR2s, Miatas and CRXs. Does anyone know if this was officially approved?

Welcome to D Mod.
The beauty of it is theres a lot less rules in a mod class.
1982? I was in a D Mod car in Salina. A-E mod ran Sunday.
Five protests all day, three were because someone brought the wrong kind of beer.

in my region there is a SM2 - so that would be what i would be in? i will have to check out the rules on that class, since i know i am going to get beat down severely. i have seen what is in those classes and what they run for times. thanks guys. now i have somewhere to start.
oh, and if i am in d-mod, then i wouldn't race it. a streetable car should not have to be in a modified class like that. there is no way in hell i could even come close to my father's 64 turner with a twin cam motor.

Sounds like a prime candidate for SM2 since your region has it.
New Hampshire, huh? Isn't Tyson Sawyer around there somewhere? If you see him, tell him the guy in the "f-ing Sentra" said Hi!

SM2 was approved as a supplementary class at National level events for 2002. That means, if there is a lot of interest, it will be around in 2003+ (or if no interest, it goes away) - this is what STS and SM went through over the last several years.
I haven't seen the final rules for SM2, but the preliminary set allowed 2 seaters and a larger displacement limit and lower min weights. Full interior and street gear still required.

yes, tyson sawyer and his wife stacy are part of my region. they also head up the nescc (new england sports car club) for up here, which used to be okrt, for those of you who know old school. he is actually putting his neon up for sale so he can race in jerry fields am car this season. i think stacy is going to be racing in cm with another wife and husband.
