Default Max Hp out of a SOHC VTEC?

Like the topic says what is the max hp at the wheels you guys seen with an all motor D16 SOHC VTEC and with no spray?

I want to know as a reference.
Since my buddy plans to go all motor D16 SOHC VTEC.
He refuses to join me on the darkside...

Probably 160-170 whp daily driver, or 170+ full race.

I seem to recal a white hatch that was posted on this board several months ago...the engine was a sohc vtec with itb's, and I believe he made 185whp.

realistically with less than say 3-4k on the motor setup & fuel managment I'd say no more than 150whp. Trying to go from your normal 112-115whp sohc vtec to 150whp is not cheap nor easy by anymeans.

Tell him to swap to b series and then go na or stay with the sohc vtec and boost it.

I have seen 192whp out of a D16 BUT it was Non Vtec locally. It was built by none other than Bisi Ezerioha! The guy now has the F20 motor making over 260whp and torque is over 180ft-lb. This is Fuel Injected also no carbs

non-vtec daily driver- up to 155
non-vtec full race- up to 185-190
vtec daily driver 145-150
vtec full race- 175-180 max

Forgot to mention, 180 from a d, and 180 from a b are two differnet worlds. The balless b doesnt have **** for bottom end, the D just pulls hard all the way up.

Over 184whp is possible full street on a D, on pump gas.

Over 248whp is also possible on a full race D on race gas. Even more could be possible on alcohol.

Hint: Headwork, camshaft, compression, intake and exhaust orchastration is key. Ideal tuning performs wonders for power and longevity.

bisi should know, as he has piloted a non vtec D series motor to 10 second passes, its all about making all the parts work together in conjunction

most people just slap parts together and hope that it works for the best of them, TUNING is a big role, lol, im still not brave enought to venture into the land of N/A D series motors

good luck getting a bisi dyno graph, he doesnt just hand those out. you think he went 10.80 on anything less than 200whp?? why do you think he would state 248whp.....think about it.

10.80??? Bisi has gone 9.80.. Sooo....yea. His single cam isnt the normal single cam though. (as you may have noticed) The most power I have been able to yank out of a TRUE D16Y8 was 165 whp with 115 ft. lbs. That set-up was in the Sinister single cam, Port everything, JG cam, DC header, Chipped PR4 and a VAFC. (in an EF) The car felt just like a B16 powered hatch.

bisi did make big numbers and low times, but that engine wouldnt survive anywhere else but on the track.

i believe it was a d14, 15:1 comp and the usual engine work, and ran off carbs.

Now hes doing an f22a and making bigger numbers.

That has not a damn thing to do with a street car.

here is my old setup.

d16 block
zc pistons
ls rods
Exo cam
quad carbs
bisi header
fully done head, etc.

i was at about 13:1 comp, on 94 ocatane i could get it to run very well, but i dont think i could have done that on a fuel injected setup, the carbs were the key to power

made 186@7900

There is no way i would street drive it daily, and those numbers are mild compared to what some of you guys are throwing out there.

Don't post bullshit, if you know the facts speak, if not, STFU.

dont matter as far as it being a crazy motor or a street motor or race motor, the q was how much power have you folks seen with a single cam. Oh yea, thats bisimoto FYI... The one guy you shouldnt talk **** about single cams to...

That is actually all pretty bad ***. I have a 1993 Si, but I'm not going to do anything with the D-series considering I have all this money spent on my CR/VTEC anyway, just need more money to finish everything...maybe one day build a D-series just for fun.
