azenis chunking? or is this, "okay" wear....
With all this recent talk about odd wear on tires...do you guys this tire is safe for tracking again?
I have alot of these "gouges" on 2-3 of the tires in this set.... this pictured is one of the larger ones...

Probably normal since the sidewall doesnt flex that much. My friend has toyo proxes and they crack and "chunk". Whether or not it is normal I dont know.
depending on how much you beat on your tires and the pressures you run them at, they'll do that. my es100's were in MUCH worse condition. upping my tire pressures helped for future. proper heat cycling did too
my guess is those'll be fine but i'd wait for one of the OG's responses.
that's just my (limited) experience!

I’ve got similar issues with my azenis. I assumed it was from the curbs on the track cuz mine didn’t appear to be normal chunking. They were fine on the next event but like you I did wonder. Last thing you want is a tire blowing on the track.

Mine have done the same, that's why I am in the process of buying some new wheels w/new Azenis
I just don't think it's worth taking a chance of blowing out on the track.

My 8 Azenis have the same "chunks, rips" but looking way worse then that. With having to fix the body of my car to be ready for VIR I cannot afford RA1's by then so over driving the Azenis will have to do. I have a "bit" of negative camber already so I will add no more. Over driving them = weeeeeeeeeeee......

I concur -- despite limited FF track experience.
Also consider rotating that to the rear (assuming it's the front).
You're overheating your tires... make sure that you check the pressure and find something that doesn't feel overly greasy when you're out there.
Remember that your tires shouldn't be screaming all the time -- the more noise they're making the slower you're likely going (to a point) -- and the faster you're killing them.
