my seals have some gouges in them i want to change them. the ones in there are quite hard are the new ones stiff too? so if so how hard is it to get them out with a screwdriver or what should you use? i see the book says to use a piece of pipe and a hammer to put them in. Is it that simple? TIA/

they are easy. pop the old ones out, clean the area. there is a special tool you can use to put them in flush, but a pipe will work. just get the right diameter.
