Recent valve clatter noise on 99 Camry 4cyl? 34,000 miles?
Starting recently my mom's car has been getting some valve noise? Clatter/pinging like a Turbo Diesel at idle? Any reason on why so? She's a conservative "grandma" style driver too.
Hydraulic lifters on that car? If so they're not adjustable. Maybe they're plugged up & you need to change oil a couple times to get everything cleaned out.

Crappy oil filters is the last thing I heard. Boo.

Keep in mind that a lot of the Toyota 4 cylinders use the EXACT same filter body as Honda with a different mating surface. They are both made by Filtech and the same oil filter wrech fits them.
On an unrelated note, since you can't get an oil filter wrench from Honda that fits the new smaller filters, get one from Toyota for $5, because it works.
