VFR800 and S2k
I think it's a great looking bike.
I love the sound of a v-4 and the low rpm torque they produce.
Has anyone owned or currently ride one? I'd like to know how they perform on the track. They're about 4mph slower through the 1/4 mile than my current bike but I might be able to live with that because they should be faster coming out of corners and respond better to bolt ons. O and let's not foget, it has Mad VTEC power yo!

That bike is heavy as **** y0!
My friend used to have one until someone clipped him on the freeway. VTEC on a bike is a bad idea. Especially when you're rolling on through a corner and the **** kicks in! I love the looks tho. Buts it'd have to be a second bike for weekend trips and stuff. Not to go bonkers on it through a cyn. Too heavy to throw left and right.

My friend, a very able rider had one. Great bike, but agressive riding and even minor stunting is not what it wants to be used for at all. He bounced over to a 1000RR and said its much more willing to be driven hard.

If you talk to people that know the bikes, they will tell you that the best VFRs were the ones right before VTEC.
My brother had 2 VFR750s, and they were just sweet all-around bikes. No weak point, really. Obviously not a track bike, but an unbeatably practical machine. Comfy, too.

I owned a VFR with vtec and it never kicked in that hard. You sure your buddy didn't have a case of jerky wrist?

Can't say for sure, but when I rode it, I noticed the VTEC kicking through mid corner. I always try to accelerate a bit through my turns. Maybe I have stupid technique. But neways, I don't like that. I like predictability.

If you like predictability then keep the revs high going into the curve. Power out and you don't have to worry about the VTEC kicking in.
For what its worth. My buddies 02 Interceptor didn't bother me much with the VTEC but I also didn't see much benefit from it either.

Really, strength has nothing to do with it.

i do not think it is solely for emissions. the vtec on the bike is different than a car, its just 2 valves vs 4 valves opening. at WOT on a dyno, the transition is smooth, but i guess it could be unsettling thru a curve at part throttle.
and it is good techniquie to accelerate thru a curve. keeps the suspension settled.

I have never driven one, but I think the key goal here by the honda engineers was
to make the crossover as seamless as possible, power wise. Besides,
if your going into a corner that slow as to where your under the engagement point,
they you really arent going fast anyhow.
When these bikes first came out, i remember a few idiots were complaining
because they couldnt feel the vtec like in their cars. hahaha

I was riding the bike as it was meant to be ridden. At a touring pace. At those speeds, the VTEC engagement point is often encountered. Too frequent annoyance for me.
