Bad Boots
Well, while I'm waiting to find another 89-91 Si tranny *HINT - I'M IN NEED* I decided to fix some bad boots. The axels weren't clicking just yet, but the boots were blown to hell.

So first off, there's a ring clip on the inner(trannyside) cv joint. Once thats off, you can slide the axel bearings off.

So then pull the old boot off and clean the shaft. http://www.we-todd-did-racing....D.jpg
Slide the new boot on, if you're replacing both sides, make sure you do the outter(hub) side first. http://www.we-todd-did-racing....D.jpg
Heres' the inner shaft side with the new boot showing you what the axel end looks like. http://www.we-todd-did-racing....D.jpg
Then its grease time. I filled the shafts housing (part that actually goes into the transmission and then greased up the bearing. http://www.we-todd-did-racing....D.jpg
Then just slide it back together and clamp it. The clamps are kind of a bitch, I used some channel locks and a screwdriver to tighten it as much as possible, the tighter the better. If they're loose enough to leak, they're most likely to break again. Here's the afterwards pic, http://www.we-todd-did-racing....D.jpg
Well, I hope this helps somebody. This is well worth the labor since axels are about $65-70 dollars each. Also, remanufactured ones suck, and I like to get greasy
. Any questions/comments post 'em. I posted here in tech so that some people can see this thread, and then maybe the mighty Vap can move it for me to the FAQ thread. - Darrell
