Compression Test...how to?
check out cspeed 's how to site. they have that and alot of other helpful how to's
it matters on your motor... but numbers should be around 180psi to around 240psi
the thing that really matter is that all the numbers are constistent throughout all four cylinders...
search dude.. there is alot about this... all you had to do was type in compression..

people cant tell you where numbers should be without knowing what engine you have...

remove all spark plugs, disable ignition, stick the compression gauge to each spark plug hole, check the psi, make sure the readings arent 20 psi of each other, if it is proceed with a leak down test
