Honda Challenge Questions.
I'm having trouble finding info on the spec tire in the SE for the Honda Challenge. Is it the Toyo R1, or is there no spec tire for 2005? Also, does anyone have any cheap sources for these tires "if" they are the right ones? My other question is how long do they normally last? I've never raced on a DOT tire before. Thanks for any help!
No Spec tire for SEHC. I get my RA1 from Phil's Tire Service.
I ran 4 weekends last year on a set of shaved 205 RA1s. Still have some life in them. I am planning to run the same set of tires this month at Road Atlanta. They last.
Gran Tourismo East shaves tires in the Metra ATL area.

Plus about $15 each to shave them.
You can also buy Toyos, pre-shaved, trackside from Appalachian Tire at SEDIV SCCA events. This is assuming you get to them before the Spec Miata guys do.
And don't forget the new Hoosier 04. Its more expensive than the Toyo, but its a bit quicker and is proving to last longer than the old tire.
See my other post on this.
