the 96-00 CX hatch weighs 2238lbs, and the 92-95 CX weighs 2108lbs. but the 92-95 only has 70hp and 91 ft-lbs torque, while the 96-00 has 106hp and 103 ft-lbs torque. so that extra 130lbs on the 96-00 doesn't really make a difference as it still has a far better power to weight ratio. in otherwords, the 96-00 is a little heavier, but it's still faster and the 96-00 was the better of the two chassis.

the ek9 isnt better the eh6 is .. because its a lighter chasis and that means if u swap the motor less freaking weight to slow u down..

I believe... believe so I cant say for sure...

but in the whole threads created on weight... that the difference between the two seemed to be the 96-00 had more sound deadening... so if you are gutting, I think they will be Much much closer in weight...

First of all ek9's and eg6's are not CX's and you can't get them in the U.S.

every 1 calls them by their JDM code i.e. EK9, EG6...and the JSDM mode i.e. DX, CX, SI DUH!

The 96-00 chassis (EK) is better than the 92-95 (EG) due to it's structural stability. This is a well known fact and I can honestly vouch for this, as I have driven both in their stock forms and the 96-00 is much stiffer and has far less body roll. If it's going to be strictly a drag car though, then maybe 100 pounds will make that difference, but as far as being structural built better, the 96-00 is above the 92-95.

1993 Honda Civic CX HB MT 2094
1996 Honda Civic CX HB MT 2222

128 pound difference in the 2 hatches I have own/owned. We'll see if I can put down a 9.3 1/8th time in the EK w/ I/E when I get the GSR installed....

EG was gutted behind front seats back and most sound deadning removed....

Hey hypoxvi, thats an opinion....not a fact. EG's chassis is similar to the (94-00 integra)DC2's and we all know DC2s handles like a dream. There is bodyroll while driving an EG because of its lack of side support on those stock seats. I'm not saying that the EG is better than the EK but being an owner of one...i have my opinions.

that link posted seems kind of weird

1996 Honda Civic DX HB MT 2242
1996 Honda Civic DX HB AT 2317

Manual transmission weighs 75 LESS...expected

1997 Honda Civic DX HB MT 2319
1997 Honda Civic DX HB AT 2253

Manual transmission weighs 66 MORE (?) and the manual car gained 77lbs over a 96 ? This is also the only model year of any 'ek' hatch 96-00 where the AT is in the 22XX range...

1998 Honda Civic DX HB MT 2339
1998 Honda Civic DX HB AT 2392

Somehow the AT car gained 139lbs compared to last model year and
back to the manual weighing less...

97 is the only year listed where a DX 3dr MT weighs more than an AT...something doesn't seem right ? I'm doubting the accuracy of this chart.

Uh, bodyroll is in the car, not the driver...
