tapping noise at idle
1998 acura CL v6 vtec
This morning on my way to work I stopped at a traffic light and I heard a tapping noise. It seems to only make the noise at idle. As I accelerate the noise goes away. If I rev the motor in neutral it makes the tapping noise.
I think its maybe a sticky valve, or lifter because of the cold. Anything I can do to fix the problem? I'm very picky about my cars, and this will drive me crazy!
thanks in advance guys!
Greg

Anything over 70k miles and you probably do.

Just tripped 100k the other night.
The only weird thing is...it sounds like only 1 valve is making the noise. Maybe its just more out of spec than the others?

Quite possible. They don't just all get out of spec.
