Default 1988 CRX SI heater control system needs something that works

I have a 88 CRX SI and the heater control switches don't work and can't be fixed, a knew one is too much money, any nice alternative's, or has anybody put the standard civic of the same generation in a CRX SI. the standard is cable activated in stead of electrical.

You can swap the Civic cable driven controls into a CRX. You just have to rape the HVAC peice from a civic, as well as the drive cables. You also have to remove the first actuator arms bolted onto the air box(behind glove box) and vent box(at drivers floar board, above/to the right of the gas pedal). I've done the *reverse* of this in my 91 Civic, by installing the CRX HVAC controls, wiring, and stepper motors. I noticed that the CRX and Civic's share a common casting for the air and vent boxes. It'll take a little work to remove and install the cables, but it will be functional when you're done...

Though I'd suggest going junk yard hoppinf for a CRX to ****** the HVAC controls out of. You'll hate the Civic's ghey levers, versus the CRX push button stuff.
