Default BlueShadow's turbo buildup

Hi guys,

I couldn't post this in the FI forum because it's again the FI forum TOS. I dont know if it's against the EF forum TOS, but I dont think anybody will mind too much since turbo B18C CRX's are pretty rare around here.

After a month of waiting my turbo kit finally arrived from Revhard. I bought it on Dec 24, and it was the first thing I bought for my turbo project. Here it is a month and a few days later and it is one of the last parts to arrive. I didn't mind the wait, in fact I was sorta expecting it. I kinda felt bad for bugging the sales rep at RH trying to get the tracking number. Anyways, the only things I need now are a set of injectors which I bought this morning from wirespeedlab (RC 750cc') and a WBO2 setup which I will be ordering Monday (Zeitronix).

Here is some info for my setup:
91 CRX DX

Good luck man, it looks like you'll have a pretty crazy ride when you're done. By the way a big to the full race crossmember! Power isn't good unless you can keep it on the ground, so nice choice. I know you already picked up the one breather, but just for the heck of it check this,http://www.theoldone.com/components/breather/

Best of luck, keep us posted, dyno her too

YEAH IT IS!!! I'm so excited to finally have all this stuff sitting here. Even though the injectors wont be here for another week or two, I actually have ALL the parts needed to turbo my car sitting here. I have some DSM 450's laying around, but I never intended to use them.

I originally bought the LS tranny when I was still planning on going NA. It was just temporary until I could find a good ITR tranny. I might hang onto it since I'm turbo now...unless I can find a JDM B16 LSD tranny. For now though there are still a few misc things I gotta pay for with my turbo setup. Like the DP which needs to be lengthened, and I might get a SS oil drain line if I decide not to use the RH kits rain line.

If I can find an LSD one I'll ****** it up right away. An ITR tranny would be the best one for me to swap in though. But on top of the $1100-$1200 I'd have to and another $500-$600 for the mount kit, and another $300-$400 for a clutch kit. So right now it's not an option.

I'll probably just stick with the LS tranny. Once the motor comes out to get sleeved, I'll swap in the ITR tranny. If I do all that stuff at once It'll be a lot easier.

i dont know if you know this or not, but the j1 tranny has the same gear ratio as the type r tranny, just doesnt have the lsd.

setup looks good, similar to mine but i have no wideband or uberdata and i have no idea when i will get to that point. let me know if you have questions i will take pics of what we talked about earlier

haha, yeah.
I know I'll be voiding my BAR sticker, but oh well.

If I do go turbo, I'll be piecing a kit together, probably with a sidemount intercooler to keep it low-key.

How much b00st are you planning on running?

I wont care either way...I'll probably get my car BAR'ed in Feb, then right after I'll slap the turbo on and run it for 6-7 months. I only plan on runnin 7-8 PSI while the motor is unbuilt, once it gets built, I'll be shooting for 300WHP maybe more.

Heya slowpoke, if you could take pics of your setup that would be great! would you also be able to take pics of your battery relocation work? I want to see how you did your distribution block in the engine bay. BTW, where did you get your distribution block?

TIA

You know, I thought about getting a J1 tranny before, but I kinda didn't want to because they dont have LSD. With as much power as I'm gonna be putting down in the future, I'd want a tranny with LSD. One reaason I'd do the ITR tranny over LSD cables, is the ITR should be a little stronger. The cost and work involded in swapping to an ITR tranny is the only thing keeping me from getting one right away.

Have you been to the uberdata forums? oh and also do you have your own soldering equipment and a laptop?

If you have all that stuff above then at the minimum you can be uber-ready for as little as $370. And if you get some DSM injectors add another $40-$80. You might even be ok running your inline fuel pump, but I'd check on that though. And if you cant Walbro 255's are going for $79-$99.

$15 for moates.net UBER1 ECU chipping kit
$85 for moates.net BURN1 burner kit or $55 for Willem burner off ebay
$320 for Innovative LM1 or PLX300

i'm still looking for my motor for my rex i'm going ls/vtec this summer sometime i'll be having dave from pgmfi.org tune my ecu and i'm planning on running the ls tranny for longer gears. and adding an lsd. i also plan one matching up the turbo so i can stay in boost with the longer gears i know that means not as much airflow do to the fact the turbo will be smaller but i'll be happy

the kit and everything looks great good luck man.

Heya slowpokesi,

I had another question for you.

When you were looking at that IC elbow, did you notice if yours had one side longer then the other? on one side it is 5.5 inches ong, but the other way is is 7.5 inches long. Good thing I noticed that, the longer section probably goes towards the compressor. Just in case though I'm gonna buy a 6" length of vacuum or heater hose. That way if I run into the same problem as you, I'm already prepared for it.

Anyways, I'm trying to contact my friend so that he can give me his EG rad. Once I have that I can install it along with my FR tracbar. Once that's on, I can take my car to a muffler shop and get my DP welded up and I can do a sort of "dry run" on the turbo install. During that "dry run" I'll prbably do a lot of fitting for the IC.

I wanna actually install the turbo, DP, and piping to see how it all fits together before I do the real install. I guess it's also time for me to buy a sawzall too for when I test fit my IC.

Some more turbo fun, hehehe I actually did this to see if I understood how everything fit together. Plus it gave me a chance to play around with all the stuff.

yah, I didn't even think about putting on the BOV the correct way hehehe. I'll make sure the opening is facing the other way for the actual install.

As far as the cutting goes, I think I'll buy that sawzall in the link above since it's only $60. Then I'll also buy a bunch of cutting discs with the fiber woven through, just in case.

I was also wondering if you had pics of your IC piping on the car with the bumper off?And also if you have pics of the inner part of your front bumper after all the cutting. I can IM you my e-mail addy so that you wont have to host the pics.

Thanks
