All carbon fiber not made equal?
I was on my cell phone the other day, not paying attention and i drove into the partition thingy @ the end of parking spaces. it cracked my carbon fiber lip pretty bad. I want to replace it but want to know if all carbon fiber cracks like this? I want to get something that will withstand the abuse that I inevitably will put it through because my car is pretty dumped.
no they are not. my friend at Sparco showed us how they make "real" dry carbon fiber hoods, seats and other crap. but a sparco dry carbon hood was gonna cost my around 2 grand. and he is my friend. so you do get what you paid for.
i didn't buy the lip that's on there...it was on the car when I bought it. here's a pic of the car.
the hood is VIS. it looks real nice. who sales a good lip?

this is true with dry carbon it is equal all the time. the resin is weaved in the carbon and is equal all through out the piece. it has to be stored in freezers be for being molded.

You can pay a thousand dollars for the best carbon fiber lip ever made, and it's still going to crack if you drive into something.

EXACTLY!
It was annoying me seeing people post "You get what you pay for" but not giving actual info.

That was Fiber Images and if you hit a parking divider, most likely, any brand would crack if hit hard enough. Think about it, a 2,500 pound car pushing against concrete...yea, the cf is gonna give first...not the concrete.
