1991 Honda Accord SE QUESTIONS???
Ya am looking for a good car that would fit my budget and a coworker of my friend is selling his 1991 honda accord SE 5spd 600 bucks . They history of the car is 110000 miles and it was his dad who bought it brand new and now he has. he is selling cuz he got a new altima. Well my question is that if this is a good car to customize because honestly i had never heard of the SE but i see that it comes with 140 instead of 130. Since i have been to obssed with civics i never payed much attention to accords SO IS THIS A GOOD CAR TO CUSTOMIZE??
I know the engine is F22 but is it vtec??
I know the engine is F22 but is it vtec??
i would verify your sources, from what i am aware of, special editions never came in a manual transmission option, im unsure of the hp rating, what is the motor code?
as for vtec, it is not.
as for vtec, it is not.
It is a good deal.
I got 90 Accord EX, and they are good cars to customize. There is SE in Accord that year, they do came with F22 engine like my EX with the same 130hp (I think), Only the Lx and Dx came with 125hp. 94+ Accord F22 cames with 140hp Vtec engine. There is NO Vtec engine in 90-93 Accords, Vtec come on 94+ Accords. The different between the EX and SE is SE cames with leather seats, spoilers and fog lights, but for Ex it is optional. In my Accord I took out the F22 engine and put H23 for more hp and torque (160hp and 154 torque).

no offence dude but that car is majorly riced out ....
to answer the original poster ....the se is a nice car they are bulletproof as long as you take care of the regular maintence just like any car ... as for aftermarket there isnt much out there for it unless it is rice .... but you can do a few engine swaps h22 (vtec) h23 or even a f23 (vtec) they may not all be a easy swap but they will produce pretty good bang for the buck ...
and that is a great price for a SE .... i would pick it up just to keep it stock and drive it ....

What makes my car riced? The white wheels? The Type R sticker? The wing? or what? I had this car since '97, the last 5 years it was like this, and no one said it looks rice to me.

there is no 5 speed se. so its either not an se, not a 5 speed, or was converted to 5 speed and considering its the original owner, he should know. and yes it does have 140hp, it was when the f22a6 was first introduced, then after that the ex models also got that engine for 92-93.

the wing, the type r sticker. I`ll be the second person to ever say that

it was turbo before, but the engine got too much miles and I missed up the piston ring after that I bought 93 H22 Prelude and put that turbo kit on it.

And this is my 93 Prelude H22 Turbo.....................

Nice turbo. Nice H. Nice paintjob.
I would remove the wing, the sticker, and I've never been a fan of white wheels. Think gunmetal instead.
It may have been the **** in '97, but fashions change dude.

Isn't this the wrong site to be slamming other peoples rides as "RICE"? Pointing out all the rice around here would take up all the sites band width.

Think for pointing out what makes it rice, but the Accord been looking that way for 5 years and I never touch it because I was too busy saving money for my Turbo Prelude to built it slowly, it took me 3 years to build it, that is why my Accord looks "riced out". It was the **** back than. I removed the sticker, but I got to keep the wing because I am the only one who got it around here, and it is unique. How about my Prelude?

the accord is okay minus the wing, but to each his own...
4th gen accords are amazing cars, and if it was taken care of, it should last as long as you want to drive it

Well you should know when you post pictures of your car on a forum people are going to comment on it, good and bad. Which is exactly what they did.

Don't worry about it man, everyone has their personal tastes right? That in mind, if it's what you like, it looks great. Furthermore, to give it an objective criticism, your EX Accord looks fine. It's color and front end is pleasing, and it's not offensive to the naked eye, and for objective opinions, when people can't look at it directly and must turn away, then that's bad.
My personal opinion, paint job is great, but i'm going to have to agree that the sticker is a little tacky, the wing kinda out of proportion, and the white wheels just attract WAY too much attention from the nicer features of your car.
As for the questions about the 91 Accord SE, I own one, and I saw a lot of false information up there (and all over the forum) about the car. Just to put together what info other users have cited that is correct (which you can also find in other posts like the "Accord Guide" or whatever that post was called):
1991 Honda Accord SE - 2.2L 4 cylinder 16-Valve SOHC, F22a6
No such thing as a 1991 SE from the factory with any other engine.
ONLY available with an Automatic Transmission
Sports mode lets you use more of the gears by shifting later (not sure if it does anything else)
The SE came with EVERYTHING. A few things were optional but to hell if i know what they were. I know I don't have foglights, so they must be optional. (I have a sunroof though)
The F22A6 is NOT a VTEC engine, but it includes technology produced with a similar ideology in mind. The Intake Air Bypass (IAB) System was included in the A6 engines, which is basically a second air channel into the engine. The air intake valves are closed for more torque at low RPM and open for more HP at high RPM, which is what makes the difference between an F22A4 and an F22A6. That's why the A6 can stretch more horsepower.
There are also a few minor differences, in a few parts specs and such, and this engine runs under higher compression than the other F22Ax.
I know most of this stuff because I have a Haynes manual for my car, so if you buy the SE, get one.
I don't know why you say it is a 5 speed, but i doubt they've changed the tranny on it. What a hassle.
It's a good car to customize, I guess... but there aren't very many of these left, and I'd probably rip my hair out when I see what you might do to it (no offense). I've had mine in my family since it was new also, and I hope to modify it for maximum low end torque. Screw the horsepower, Someone said it, yes, when taken care of, the car is virtually bulletproof. With low end torque it would be a fun daily driver, and i can save up money for a project car of some sort.
With the competition you'd have these days if you want to take something to the track, I'd suggest doing the same. For a little more money than an engine swap and a lot less trouble, you can find a better car for top speed. But anyway, take the SE! It's a fun little car and having a sunroof is sweeeeeet.
