will the value of the type r go up?
im pretty sure there will be a day when around 90% of all the type r in the US will get stolen and stripped. this will make the type r a very rare sports car. will this make the value of increase? or the hype r wont matter much and still go down in price?

Zero chance. It'll go down. Bad investment.

I don't know....never say never. It is quite possible, but it is only going to be worth what someone is willing to spend at that time. However, the real possibility of there only being a few authentic clean titled R's in the future would more than likely bump the value up a bit. Pretty much goes with any car that is sought after.
For me, I've purchased several hard to find cars in the past, fixed them up to what I thought was good and sold them for a profit.
Again, with any car, the closer it is to stock, the more value it will have. Also the low milage thing helps.
Aloha,
Brandon

This isn't always true... make sure you watch the Barret Jackson car auction all this weekend.

value might go up depending on mileage and year.
I have 55k on mine 2000 and its my daily. I hope to keep it below 80k before I graduate from college.

Maybe yes, maybe no. In the end, what do you want to do with one of the best driver's cars ever under $50K - Drive it, or wipe it with a diaper?

I did a quick search on autotrader and came upon 2 ITRs, 2001, and both going for $26K!
What the hell?
There were a whole bunch of other ones, ranging in price from $18.5K-$22K, 98-01. And none were low mileage, either.
And one of them has been butchered:

That body kit is so hot, it made me crap my pants. All I can say is: Different Strokes for Different Folks **sigh....
This makes me wonder. Mine is a 97, with 80K miles on it and an extensive aftermarket parts list...Hmmmm.
Aloha,
Brandon - who wishes he could watch the big car show this weekend but doesn't have TV.

Those are asking prices, not to be confused with the real market value of a vehicle.
Autotrader is full of delusional selles.

It may go up... if you hold onto it for 25 more years.
At the recent Barret-Jackson auction the majority of the cars fetching outrageous prices were the late 60's muscle cars. The guys bidding on them were trying to buy back the cool cars of their youth.
The cool cars of our youth seem to be imports, thus when we are in our 50's we'll be trying to buy these back for outrageous prices.
Just my theory...

Still, with an asking price of $26K, it's a safe bet that you can negotiate down to maybe $23-24K? Not bad if you ask me.

i will bet my future children that my R will go up, if not, atleast maintain its value. the people who say no now will live to see me smiling behind the wheel of my "vintage" classic ITR...worth twice what i paid when new

Mustangs were cheap and made by the zillions. Even the "lesser" models go for 5x the orignal asking price.
Yes I think its very possible that prices could eventually go up but it will probably be a long time.

If anyone paid anywhere near that they are absolutely retarded. Secondly, those "fluff" prices are from idiots and only an idiot would pay them.
The market will bring those prices down unless there is a sucker. You'd have to wait a long time for a sucker and by then the value would have depreciated even more.
Think about how many serious buyers would actually call to negotiate with a moron like that? You'd be lucky if you found someone willing to help you realize you're an idiot.

if anyone is able to keep their R for 25yrs without it getting stolen, thats one heck of an accomplishment
its not just another civic like people try to say. the R is a limited edition track bred car and anything that is specialized and rare (and getting more rare by the day) has potential to eventually go up in value. but not to millions of dollars or something like that. just look at it as it stands right now. the car has been around for a long time, approaching 10 years. its still holding its value very well even though its old, outdated technology and many new cars on the market are better. granted, most of those new cars are AWD or turbo. there arent many NA FWD cars out that can compete with the R in todays world, even though they have had 8 yrs to catch up. so who knows.
