Default F1: Honda having engine problems

Not good news. Honda has struggled with reliability in the past - and with the new regs the engine needs to last a total of 2 GPs... Hope they get it ironed out.

Well said. Glad this is happening in January, but still bad to see.

I'd take a calculated guess and say that it is an extension of last year's problem. That car couldn't sit in the pits or full course yellow to save its life. I seem to remember them talking about the small inlets to the radiators and without being at full speed, they'd soak up heat VERY fast. Now add to that 500km MORE to withstand....

With the BAR 007 being noticably smaller, maybe they've compounded the problem (smaller car, smaller inlets, same radiators... same problem?)

They're not the only one with problems with their new car:

Renault's car stopped on the first day of testing due to electrical problems. It's all part of pre-season testing and i hope Honda can get a handle on it.

did you guys see the new Ferrari front wing? It looks very crude compared to BAR's, but I'm sure it was tested. Still looks like a "cheap" last second add on though

Yeah i agree, it doesn't look as good as the BAR-Honda wing, but it's Ferrari so i'm assuming they spent millions on getting that thing to work.

The Renault's front end looks pretty crazy too, it's extremely narrow and it looks like they kinda copied BAR's idea with the front wing.

The BAR wing looks amazing for sure.

I understand about winter testing, etc., etc. -- but to have engines still blowing up at the end of January is more troublesome than having some electrical glitches the first day of running a brand new car.

I can't wait for this season to get started.

I thought the same thing myself about copying, but I think it would have been very difficult to turn around their own version of that nose wing in the time between the BAR 007 and the R25's debuts.

It's nice to see the Red Bull cars showing some very good speed this early.

Funny you should say that.

WTF car are they running? Is the RB1 a 2005-spec car? (it doesn't really look much different IMO than the R5 jag) New engine? Hard to tell what they are running.

The times from all the testing (all cars) so far is very confusing - no idea on tires, 04/05/hybrid cars, engines, fuel loads, etc.

That pherrari wing does look very crude, maybe they don't want the effect of a full 2nd wing, whatever that effect may be in comparison with that 'little cute wing'.

I'm pretty sure the RB1 is the Jaguar R6, and are using the Cosworth lump. Red Bull took over the Milton Keynes factory, which is where Jaguar was.

Sure, but how far along in development were they? It's as boxy as ever and very ... '03/'04 looking.

I wonder how legal that little wing is...it looks like a whole seperate wing that's attached to the main front wing.

Oh..wait a minute, that's right, Ferrari can get away with anything.

From what I've read, the back end has already seen track time in an intern car and they are going to try and incorporate new mods throughout the 2005 season, budget permitting.

I guess I had better go to Sam's and pick up another case of Red Bull to help them meet their goals!
