Favorite Tires?
hi all, I was just curious as to what everyones favorite rubber is (no not that kind)... Just wanna get some input before I throw new tires on my bike this summer since I usually go through about 2 sets a summer
So far my F4i came on Dunlop207s which werent really that bad of a tire, nice all around I guess, but traction was an issue even when they were hot
Then I got 208s and I hated them... the tire was awesome on hot days, cant complain there, but on a even remotely cold day or if I would ride early in the morning I could spin the tire doing 50 no problem... and the tire wore away pretty fast
Now I have Michelin Pilot Sports and this has been a nice mix... even when im scraping my pegs around turns I dont feel the bike getting twitchy... Bike stops awesome and warm up time is minimal..
I almost bought metzler M1s instead of the pilot sports especially since I heard good things about them...
How about everyone else? Chime in on what you like and dont like about what your riding on

Pirelli Diablos are the best tires ever. They have suited me fine on the street and the track. I'll probably say DC are the best for the track, but the diablos have never given me any reason to not trust a fresh set on the track.
YAY pirelli!!!!!

Ive had both those dunlops as well, and i didn't like either of them, ive had bridgestone battleaxes which i think had slightly better grip when warm. I think the best tires ive ever rode where the pilot sports though, like you said they warm up quick and feel the best going hot into corners.

If these are for streets, I suggest trying Bridgestone Bt010 or 020. Track tires are very sticky under optimal condition, and takes a bit longer to warm up so it may not be suitable for wet and cold condition that you have on the streets. As far as brand, I like my Bridgestone 002

i rode on dunlop 208's last season and got more then 3k miles on them and they still have a lot of meat left.
working at a custom b ike shop last year i can only convey what my customers told me... and that was:
diablo corsa's were much better then the metzler m1's - even though they are physicaly the same tire compound just a differant tread pattern, manufactored right next to each other in the same plant
for those who spent the extra money on pilot sport's, most all enjoyed them for at least an extra 15% more mileage on them, and the reinforced sidewalls help on not only bigger bikes, but to evenly distribute the heat thru the tire making them last longer
the pilot powers came out at the end of the season so i have no real feedback on them as of yet

Really? I didn't know that.

The diablo corsas are dual compounds, harder rubber in the middle and softer on the sides, to give you better mileage. The Metzler M1s are soft and heats up really quick, I had a lot of slides coming out of turns on those tires. Given that they're controllable, but not something you'd want to worry about. I think he meant they're of the same carcass.
Pilot Powers so far heard really really good feedback. Its one of the stickiest tires you can buy. Just goto a store and touch em. They are also pretty soft due to a new compound in the tire and they tire wear is pretty gosh darn good. They also heat up pretty damn quick from what everyone is telling me. Plus, they are in the same price range as the Pirelli Diablos.
