Default which car? between s2k, itr, prelude..

im stuck.. so i have to get feedback from everyone here if u'd be so kind ..

originally i wanted a o1 itr (still do!).. but theyre hard to find - stock that is. and isnt beaten up if its for sale lol. then i figured ah, ill just get a prelude as a daily driver- for now. but then again, im in love with the s2k. it is very easy to say their price range goes from minimum 1o to 4ok. big differences.. BUT! first question, which one would u go for, and why? i know it depends on income whatnot.. but ignore the money factor.. just stay on the vehicle itself.. plus and negatives (few and far between).

2nd "?". if s2k.. which year?2004 or 2005? do u prefer the higher redline, or more torque? i do like the lights better.. but how many stock redline cars go up to 9? so again.. im torn in that aspect.. help! hopefully this will spawn a good debate to help me choose : )

ohhh and as for what year....

00-03 is ap1
04+ is ap2

the ap1's have the 9k redline, and the ap2's have the 8200redline but does have a little more torque...

but when looking at the ap1's... 00 and 01 had plastic rear windows, 02 and 03 had the glass rear window...

What are you using it for? Most S owners ahve a second car, but their are many who use it as a daily driver. In LA , Im sure you dont get much snow, but be ready to borrow someones car anytime you need to pcik up somthing large or drive more than 1 passenger.

I had a 5th gen Lude before this car and I used to work for Acura. I'd get a ITR over the Lude easy. Either way ITR and S's have higher insurance.

Have had my S for 13 months.... love every minute with it

My previous car was an ITR, which I totaled. The ITR was/is a great car, I loved every minute with it as well. But to me, the S2000 is more fun..... not taking anything away from the ITR at all.

I agree. If you get an ITR you might as well just leave the doors open and the keys in the ignition because it's most likely going to get stolen.

:D oh man.. im sure you'd all agree with me that wanting is more torturous than having.. and everyday.. to see the car u want.. so close.. but so far! - the only up to getting a prelude is 1)its cheapest out of the 3. i can get it right away for daily driving. (oh biggest thing.. driving is fun for me.. i love it.. so i want to enjoy it. even if its in stinkin LA cause i plan to drive back home to SF frequently*)..2) i currently dont have a car ( last one was stolen.) but then again.. ive always sacrificed convenience to save more money for the greater goal.

the itr.. its a childhood love.. and we never forget our first loves weighing on my mind is that the it is more exclusive. not as many as the s2ks BUT! the s2k is definantly what u guys are stating.. *u'd think being a sales consultant i'd be able to determine my own needs vs wants.. *

My friend owned a CW ITR for many years, we worked on it and i drove it many many times, i liked the car, and in stock form, they are about as comfortable as a GS-R, the seats were nice, and overall it felt solid, but once they've been modified AT ALL, in my opinion they tend to lose that rigidity, they dont feel as solid, they feel more raw, more like a track car...after he was done with his integra, i would honestly never drive that thing on the street, it was just not fun (noise, ride, overall feel)...i think they are great for enthusiasts, but to me, i just wouldnt ever own one myself...

Prelude to me was the car that should have been rwd from honda but wasnt, i think it would have been a MUCH sportier car to drive with out the FF platform, but alas, thats how it comes, and honestly, my CL-S trumps that car in performance, luxery and (in my opinion) looks, for about the same price as a low mileage newer model prelude, not a big fan.

S2000 is a great car, but i will always stand by my thoughts that i could not own this car as a daily driver...my wife does drive it daily, but i couldnt, i enjoy the occasional spirited runs through the mountains or to get some food on a weekend evening, trips to the city are ok...the car is a sports car, there is no question about that, and it has alot of pluses and minuses (space being one of my bigger ones)...but overall the car is awesome. Quick, handles incredibly, looks awesome, and you can put the top down...out of the 3 cars this is what i would drive, but it just depends on what kind of cash you got...our 2004 is well worth the payments to me, but to some they question why we'd choose that for a car that isnt nice to drive 100% of the time...

Best car of them all? S2000...would i suggest getting it as a daily driver? Nope.

Just think of it this way, you get what you pay for. Do you want to spend the extra for a S?

i would either get the prelude or the s2k..ITR should be out of the question because it will be stolen b4 you even get used to it

then it should b down to what you are gonna use the car for??? daily driver, weekend warrior,track....if u dont need space get the s2k(04-05 suggested) ....if u need space get the lude..

o3s2kblue - but didnt u like the led lights better on the o5's? ah higher redline.. oi... so hard.. tell me more about ur car.. does it drive faster now that u've broken in the vtec?

hypnosisracing.. how old are u? thanks alot for ur reply, i appreciate the long breakdown *what im looking for*.. i work about 5 miles from where i live.. but everything is always in the current of change that sometimes.. the only thing that keeps me alive is speed and my music bumpin behind me... i guess its the feeling of escape? one of the reasons i want a small car.. so i can park *sf its hard to find parkig* and performance/handling is definantly a biggie for me. but then again, being a dj, and an event producer, i need room to carry equipment. but right now it doesnt matter..ill just use a ridgeline when it comes time to throw the undergrounds.. but back to the car. has anyone had any problems with it? i havent heard anything crazy *other than people blowin it up but hey.. thats just bad shifting ^^*.. honestly.. driving is the only time i get relief.. apart from just staring blankly into the waves wishing i was there instead of here..

revhi - money again.. not an issue, as i said, i've always sacrificed for the greater goal. ill have to save for a few months, starve half a year but hey. its worth it cause i'll love it more than my turntables probably lol

i like the ap1 in general all around..... i like the 9k redline, i like the way the guage is setup... (it goes all the way across, very symetircal)... the 16 inche wheels didnt' bother me cause of a couple of reasons... 1. i think the style looks better then the ap2's.... 2. they are going to be swapped out for aftermarket wheels in the future anyways....

i also don't like the headlights and tail lights of the ap2... the rear tail lights have that amber piece thats huge. (ap1 doesn't have that it's clear) ... also the headlights on the ap2 have a lot of amber in it.. however i have seen a car with it cleared out and it looks hott.....

doh see.. lol i want my car to be my daddy. now dont get me wrong here guys! i realized the other day i want a man who in a way, fills in the father figure in my life. someone who can make me feel safe, secure, and cared for. but also excite me, keep me entranced while learning. now ur thinking 'wtf does a car have to do with psychological issues'. its twisted i know.. but being independent has its downfalls.. no one around to share the load if u will. im not one to pass on my burdens to others.. so my only release.. again.. is music, and speed. the exhilaration of "u never know". currently no man ive met is suitable for my standards.. only a car meets my demand. think of it this way, it doesn't talk back, doesn't argue, and it does whatever i want whenever i want : ) and i dont ask for much.. just a silent understanding between us. that if i need to go, i need to go. shh *forgive the choppy explanation, theres no need to bore all of u with trivial details of my life *

Personally (and hopefully this wont start another "Which year is better" debate)...i think the 2004/2005 styling is better, the shape of the front bumper, the stock alloys (which to me are better than most rims we've considered), the headlights to me look better but i will agree that i like the 00-03 taillights better (though i dont hate the new ones, i would have prefered a clear lens)...as far as power though, to me the newer one is just a more friendly car to drive, some will call it watered down but to me its just a tweeked way of making what was great even better, because about the only place the 00-03 has any upside to the 04/05 is that last little bit of power band up top, but the cars are both capable of the EXACT same #'s, so in the end, its just what you prefer more, a more friendly lower powerband driver, or that extra room up top...to me theres pluses and minuses to both.

Of course then you look at price and you can get a nice 2002 for low $20K's...2004+ is still running up there at $30K so used is pretty worthless when you can spend an extra couple of G's and get a brand new one that has never had any abuse at all, and you can be responsible for all of its break in period and wear and tear. Both are incredible cars, to be quite honest, i think it just comes down to price and whether you mind having a used one or have to have a new one. I'd own either, but im 110% happy with our 2004.

Im 25 by the way...my wife is 23.

I used my S2000 as a daily driver for about two years, I loved driving the car every day but I could no longer stand the daily abuse the car was receiving- rock chips, bug splatters, fear of parking lot dings, etc. I know that I don't own a Ferrari but I am pretty **** about my cars. My wife and I intend to own this car for an extended period of time because we have so much fun in it.

So, we got a TSX and I use our GS-R as a beater. It's crappy by comparison but yesterday I parked the beater next to the grocery cart return at the supermarket with no remorse. Man that felt good, with the S2000 I would have been as far away from other cars as possible!

So, yes you can use an S2000 as a daily driver but sometimes it can be a little stressful if you really love the car.

S2000 hands down. 00-05. You cant go wrong. A few difference IMO that are hardly noticeable.

S2K > ITR* > Prelude

Only thing I miss about the ITR is the trunk space. If you can deal with having a car with the trunk space of a breadbox, you can't go wrong with a +02 S2K. Maybe it's just me but I really dislike the plastic rear window on the '00-'01s.

And who cares about driving more than one passenger.

* The Prelude might be ahead of the ITR because of the theft factor. But only because of theft issues.

hypnosisracing: thats exactly it.. which is more preferable.. the beefier torque or the higher redline.. when in the end its the same numbers? you mentioned there are plus/minuses to both.. please elaborate! let it all out id love to read :D i would definantly want a new one tho.. if i can even find an older model new :x

karl o: i completely understand the paranoia. my roomate up in SF has an o1 itr.. and man.. when we go out.. we come down with syndromes when we come near places with moving bodies... especially me, whose alter ego comes out when people touch my tables n mixer "do-n't to-uch m-y e-qu-ip-me-nt!!".. i can only imagine the amount of stress when it comes to owning a s2k hehe . exactly what u said.. its born out of love..

i really appreciate all this feedback from everyone.. keep going! makes my day at work go by faster.. if anyone of you in socal needs an official friendly honda hookup, hit me up :D im a consultant at the Honda (miller) dealership in van nuys, whether its with servicing... parts.. tuning.. i know really good autoshops for bodywork etc. : ) id be much obliged to help all of you with all ends of the spectrum, just let me know - wendy at ur service
