NHRA Roll Bar Rules Relaxed: posted 7.19.04
NHRA has been listening to track operators’ requests and effective immediately will lower its roll bar requirement. All Pure Stock or street legal vehicles without power adders will not be required to install a roll bar unless they run quicker than 11.49. This applies to convertibles and Vipers as well!
Along a similar vein, NHRA has updated SFI Spec 16.1 concerning seat belts. As of January 1, 2005, Y-type shoulder harnesses will no longer be permitted. Any Y-type harness currently in use will be allowed through the end of its expiration.
