Default AutoX pics 1-13 -VMP VA

First I would like to thank all of the NASA staff for their hard work in organizing a great AutoX. It was my first time and I had a blast. I look forward to the next autoX, hopefully with some real tires!
Here are some pics that I took, mostly of heats 1 and 3. (2 and 4 I was working or driving)

These are some of the better "action" shots
mr2 Spyder

Cobra

Celica

Me in my WRX

Richard's Impreza RS

(please excuse my bias towards subarus )

these are cropped and resized, if anyone would like the fullsize versions let me know.

Great pics! Really cool of you to put them up so quickly, for those of us who couldn't be there yesterday.

PS- Richard West has TE-37's now too? What, his CP-035's were at the drycleaners or something?

Thanks again,

Jon

I think he said he only runs those wheels on Sunday's at VMP when temps are below 50 degrees and it's sunny with a slight breeze from east.

Cool pics, Evan! Thanks for sharing, and I'm glad you had a good time.

I just have to laugh at this one, though : http://skinnee.cisat.jmu.edu/~elgore...002_0113AA.jpg since it's Terry Baker in a FWD!!!

Were the autox gods on vacation this weekend? Terry Baker, G.H., AND Tim Aro all in FWD econoboxes...

Somebody should be smited for that...

Yes Richard is the only person I know who owns TE37s, CP-035s, and SSR Comps. Any of those would look pretty sharp on my car for STX, but I don't have the money to buy the M2-modified DMS Gold suspension setup and bolt-on parts for my car in order to support that part of the 2-driver deal.

Hey now, Courtney's Neon actually handles well. What would be REALLY amusing would be stuffing Terry Baker in something with terminal understeer. I'm thinking Tim might have less fun with something that DOESN'T pirouette at will.

Chris, waiting to see results and see if Dame waxed Street Tire in Chris' absence

Actually, Tim Aro started out his "serious" National level autocross "career" in a Neon (DS) of all things. Evidently, I met him at the very first National Tour I ever attended (Connellsville 1996), and, um.... well, basically I was having such a miserable time at that event (long story), that I was kinda in "automatic mode" and I didn't really remember talking to him at all.

Results are up:
http://www.nasaracing.net/autox/13jan02/index.html

Because Karen didn't want to finish 2nd to a Z06 in the street-tire class, she ran FS open and finished 2nd to an F-150.

I was only protecting you so that you didn't finish 3rd by being bumped to SS against the Corvettes!

Yeah, I can't believe that guy! What a sellout! Getting out of a Honda and into another Japanese manufacturer's car... What a shame!

Question- was that Keath's Celica that Tim and GH ran in ProKhana? Did that poor car have FOUR drivers?! Wow, and it still has tires on it?

Yes, Tim co-drove the Frank's car. I was fortunate enough to get a ride in Bryan H.'s GTS. We didn't get waxed as badly by the GT crowd as I thought we would. Hell, Bryan and I actually did beat Tim on Raw time. Never mind that this was the first time he drove the car (and Bryan and I have been at it with the GTS for over a year, 2 years for me).

Bwahahah...Richard uses a different set of wheels and tires each event. I think he just goes to a mall and takes them off other cars..

Hey George, I saw him giving some RSX Type S wheels a pretty intense look the other day... He walked away mumbling something about cement blocks and a crowbar...

The next VMP autox is Feb. 10... www.nasaracing.net/autox

I see how you guys are!!! Not everyone has the luxury of Z-28's, WRX's, or Pantera's. The Civic is officially retired, so you guys better get used to seeing me driving REAL cars ($wise). And the Civic was purchased for $1500, so there!

Yeah, it's hard getting out of the old Honda product and into another manufacturer, huh Chris!

I think he means understeer as in "throttle-on understeer." The cars that Terry's used to (BMWs and Camaros) don't do that as much.

::sigh:: there was something endearing about telling my friends "that car you thought was fast is about to get whooped on by the Civic with nearly no brakes"

Oh well, good luck in the Celica, and hopefully you'll be down here in a month to instruct me on how not to suck

If I had beaten Phil's Z06 on raw time, I would seriously have been wondering if I had installed three or four turbochargers and NOS while sleepwalking one night

Chris, who likes soft GS PAX

PS- anyone know if it's Stock-legal to loosen the muffler bolts and let the engine make more noise without having to spend cubic $$$ on a worthwhile exhaust system?
