Default Those w/ITR & who built ITR hatch (etc) - Worth doing it?

I'm lookiing at getting a wrecked ITR for a project. For those that have had an ITR, and built an ITR swapped hatch (or civic) - Was it a worthwhile project, and would you do it again?

I love my ITR, and having it be smaller, lighter, and more potent would be nice. But sometimes I wonder if the best thing about the R is how well it works AND how little work it requires.

i for one have had two ITR swapped ek hatches and a ITR swapped ek coupe. Depending on what you want to do with the car, drag race or road race, it's up to you. When i first picked up my ITR i was amazed on well it was built and handled. So, IMO, the swapped eks are better for drag and the R is good for road race. but dont get me wrong im sure you can make a R good for drag too.. just my two cents..

p.s. sorry didn't answer your original question. I did all the work myself on those eks, and i must say it was very fun. But if you gettin old like me, buying something already well built is the lazy mans way.

If you have the time and money, sure, but if you work and go to school, then its not worth the extra time, until you have a job that pays at least 100,000
Because then you won't be needing to hustle and find a way to finish the project.

My first question for you would be, what are your plans for the caR?

Are you serious? It's a friggin' Honda, not a Porsche or something. You can put together an ITR swapped hatch for like $10-12K.

Anyway, yeah, what do you want to use the car for? I had an ITR, and have now gone to a hatch (after the R was stolen, so not entirely by choice), and I think it'll be a lot of fun. It's not as "nice" as the R, more creaks and rattles, that kind of crap, but the lightness does really make it an enjoyable car. If I were just daily driving it, I'd probably take the R based on the quality factor, but since I'm tracking the car, I like the lightness and cheapness (I'm way less scared to ball up a $6000 Civic than a $20,000 ITR).

couple of tracking down sides to a civic....shorter wheel base. you wont believe how much difference that would make.

If i was really considering building up a civic, i'd build one up as a track car, stripping alot of everything including cutting panels away to get it as light as possible for the class i'd run.

I say it's worth swaping a B18C or a B18C5 into a EG Coupe or a Hatch. If it's for drag or road course they are still killer combos!

Cause my friend (See_our_vtec) and I are about to do a JDM H22 Swap into his 92 CX Civic Hatch and it's going to be pretty quick for a bone stock motor in such a light car.

I think I'm having PM problems - I'm not getting them sometimes on my home PC. E-mail me instead please. I will be AFK until Fri. aft.

I am sometimes shown as online when I am AFK.

Thanks for the input all. Basically, I'm looking to have an additional caR with my R package, so I can save some wear and miles on the real R. I don't want another R due to insurance and overall cost.

I am looking to build the cheaper, faster, and still reliable version of the R. Primarily as a street car / daily driver, with some autox (seat time, not competition so class is not an issue). It will also do HPDE's and other track time. No drag racing. Complete interior (ITR everything?), but probably caged.

97 R doner, may keep the 4 lug (cost). Lightest, best chassis I can find for cheap. However something like a Civic, which is a more spacious and useful car design, is a plus. (I have to research weight of a Civic vs a hatch to know for sure). I'd like to retain the Integra's versatility in this regard (stuff in 5 people, or fold the seats and stuff in a bunch of crap, like a bike or race track gear).

My street driving is mostly twisties.

.....it's worth it if you have a light hatch (~92 cx).

I have an itr powered hatch and weight is still the enemy.

It has these pro's:

sleeper
beater

cons:
theft prone (depending on the year)
loud

I've spent around $10k on it, and will spend another ~$5k more before I'm done.

I can't think of anything in that price range that will be able to compete (except for a sport bike) in all around performance + versatility.

DO IT!

Only downside I can see about the whole project is ...

The goddamn, slow *** steering racks in Civics.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how that works out. But, if the H1 guys can win consistently with that chassis, it can't be TOO bad. And Kyle, the steering racks? Yeah, I can't argue with that. I like the feel of the manual rack (not the converted PS rack, which blows IMO), but the ratio is just crap.

I would build a DC2/4 track car over an EG/EH because of the handling and performance, the Integra makes a better race car: But $ wise is a lot more money for Shell/Body Panels.

i have a 97 civic hatchack with
type r swap
5lug
h&r coilovers
currently looking for mugen front and rear sturt bars and sway bar

the car handles great until i gto these new shitty tires, all in all it is a nice car to drive, a little smaller feeling than an integra, and it deffinitley changes things up a bit at a car meet all the ooooohhhh's and ahhhhhhhh's, and then y ou got your theives

guess what car myne is in the pciture below, a little better looking the the regular hatchbacks

i love my ITR swapped EG...its an SI so yeah weight is an issue, however, after adding all of the R parts into the EG even in a CX or lighter model, i would think it would about balance out.......okay slow down...yes the sunroof sux for tracking...lots of weight and all in the wrong place....but besides that and the gas tank size......just about everything else would be changed anyway.....you know...adding the cage, remove the power steering, the rear drums to disc...added sway bars..yadda yadda yadda.....so really IMO a "ITREG".......Definitely worth the time and effort......it may even out-perform a stock R......just remember no matter what you do to the civic to make it "better" than your R........its still a civic.

this is pretty much an opinion question i would think.....

I did it, and yes, I'd do it again... for a daily driver, and turbocharge it.

For speed, I'll stick with my current project..
