Need some help, in California, want to turbo 2000 f23a4
Well, as the topic states, I live in California and want to turbocharge my 2000 Honda Accord that has an f23a4 in it. It's got the five speed manual tranny as well.
First off, does anybody here know of any CARB certified (smog legal in CA) turbo chargers and kits?
Second, how much could I get out of the engine with nothing but a turbo, inter-cooler and blow-out valve?
Third, what if I wanted to hit 250-270hp, would that even be possible on the engine without spending upwards of 7-8k?
Also, just as a side note, what would be the best way to get an LSD in my car? As in, do any of you know where to get the best/cheapest one out there? (Yeah, I know, best/cheapest = oxymoron)

1. no carb kits for accords
2. w/o fuel management you won't get far
3. yes but the motor probably won't last long, my F23A4 blew at 242 HP/270 TRQ after not even one full day
4. quaife = best, phantom grip = cheap
1)don' think there's any yet and ever will be.
2)FMU/VAFC hack=cheap alternative but you get what you pay for.
3)obd1 conversion, hondata will let you run 250ish safely, 300whp stock block wouldnt last long
4)another reason for h22
how's the car b?

third motor's a charm!
Blew the A4 on 1/15, stranded 3 hours on a highway in 7 degree weather.
Swapped in an A1 (1st motor was an A1) on 1/21 & 22 (during the blizzard
- I'm in MA)
So far it's running strong - only running 8 psi, can't get any traction in this weather, will be turning up to about 10-11 psi soon... hopefully this motor will last a few months (the A4 only lasted 4 months), I'm not doing another swap in the cold!!

The problem with turbo engines is the cold start. The time it takes for hot exhaust gases to 'fire up' the cat is extended during the time it takes for the exhaust gases going from the turbo instead of directly from the engine. This is the critical time; most non carb-certified gases (
) are expelled at this time. You need to study the Edelbrock kits, and consult a turbo professional, to decide how to solve this problem.

any plan for custom internal works?</TD></TR></TABLE>
seriously, if I had a prelude I would have given up already, but the F's are cheap, last one was $350 (delivered) w/ 60k. 1st motor died due to the hack (I think), 2nd due to pushing it on the dyno too far, this one better last a while.
I'm trying to buy a house within the next 6 months, after that, once I have a garage, I have a motor ready for teardown so I can build it: pistons/rods, probably won't sleeve it. $$$ pit...
