Default OT: Ever feel like youre growing out of this?

Seems like the more time passes, the more Im getting annoyed with my loud exhaust, dont really care as much for the stop light drag...and definately getting tired of being broke because of spending all my money on my car.

I dont know if its all these annoyances that are driving me away or if Im just growing out of it.
Hell, Im looking for a nice quiet ITR muffler right now...and I might even leave the stock SI cams in...nothing aftermarket. I might do some ITRs since I can get a set for $200.
Maybe its a "phase" Im going thru...and the "addiction" will return...who knows.

I go through that once in a while but when i stop to think about it i really do love playing with my car....what you need is a 2nd car. But then again you will probaly just end up modding that a little also so buy something with little aftermarket support....LOL....

I agree it does get rather annoying at times, but i can't think of anything outside a woman that i love to spend money on and play with. As for the loud exhaust, a silencer is gold.

everyday of my life that passes, i grow more distant from the import scene, not modding my car, just the scene itself

yes, it's called the mod syndrome, we all fall into it. it's where "you car starts owning you and not you owning the car." i look at everything i buy before i buy it and i ask myself, do i really need it and is it really going to help me?? is there going to be any return on my investment??? now i don't do this for little things, but for big investments (ie. cams, headers, exhausts, suspension, rims things of this nature.) am i at the point that i need these things becuase i am pushing my car to it's limit and now i need to increase the limit of my car?? i am not at this point yet, so i'm spending money on HPDS's.

It's probably due to decreased levels of serum testosterone that occurs with aging. Left untreated, this can eventually lead to the premonition that a mini-van is a sensible form of transportation.

I think a night out with the boys (to straighten you out) is in order. Just remember it's a long and slippery slope......

I'm in the same boat as you, Steve.

But sometimes I gotta show these kids what's up. Leave 'em in awe.

I agree completely with a lot that has been already posted in response.

~ I'm sick of being looked upon as some stupid riceboy
~ I'm tired of the *import scene* and all the haters associated with it

Get out to an AutoX or roadcourse SOON and I'm sure you'll understand the difference between ricers and racers. True race guys will treat you more like family. I can take out valuables and leave them in the pits at the roadcourse or AutoX without the same fear if I were at an *import tuner shop* or a Fri night drag race.

I really could care less how people look at me because i drive a lowered Civic or whatever..I dont even get revved on much...maybe case the car is plain and not flashy...

The only reason Im wanting to chill for a while is because it is costing too much and the car has started to annoy me.

I agree with you, its gotten to the point where I come on the boards only a couple times a week and sometimes not post. Was considering parting my car (just had a fully rebuild motor) but I dont think I can drive a stock performing DC.

thats the reason i went with an R, my last car was all flashy and i got compliments from domestics and imports but the people who had no clue probably grouped me with the rest of the white trash around here who put a muffler on a civic and fly threw traffic bumpin their ghetto fabulous crap, i didnt want people to look at me like that, i dont know about you guys but the increasing number of white trash in the import scene due to the abundance of cheap accessories is really starting to become a problem

I'm always in and out of the addiction. The more time I'm away from my car and other car people I start to lose my obsession but one I get back in the car, my addiction grows stronger than ever. The import scene today is a bit getting out of hand and just plain stupid.

Sometimes Yes
Sometimes No

Nevermind the kids who Rev on me, What I really hate are the dumbasses who go by me as Im cruising down the highway doing 70, and then throw on their hazards and slow down and speed up. My only response is to pull up to them and ask how much crack they must smoke.

I am so addicted it's not funny.
I started with a 95 Accord. I put just about everything they sell for that car. I went so far as to spend $3400 on a set of 18" 3 piece RacingHart Type C's (back in 96) I decided to buy a cheap CRX just to drive around. I ended up putting a brand new (zero miles) B18C5 engine and a **** load of Mugen Parts. Now, I bought another cheap CRX to drive around and now I am thinking about a turbo LS swap...

BTW, I still have the Accord and CRX.

I went through this, too. Felt like a kid driving a lowered Civic/Integra. Sold it and bought a truck. Lifted it and love it! Drive a Honda on the weekend to shows, events, get togethers, etc. I`m happy!
