Default Question about Tires in SCCA Stock

Prepping the ITR for a season in Stock class (right now it's in Street Prepared, but I'm tired of having my *** handed to me....my car only has springs...doh.)

What kind of tires can I legally run in Stock class? I was thinking Kuhmo Victoracer's...255/50/15? will these fit? or do I need spacers? and are they legal in Stock? I'll be using a spare set of ITR wheels.

Help?

Not sure of 255s will fit .. or if you even want to try and put them on the 15x6 stock rims. 225s will work just fine though. You will need a 5mm spacer in the rear and a little fender rolling.

sorry...typo. I meant 225. Spacer in the rear? where could I find one of those? and still curious if Victoracers are legal in stock.

Thanks for the info.

I think H&R makes spacers. Most shops should be able to get those. Any DOT R-tire is legal in Stock. Victoracers, Hoosiers, Toyo RA1, Yoko A-032 etc...

You can also run 225 up front and 205 in the rear, no spacers needed for that.

What you need to do is run in the new STX class, where a lightly modified R will be competitive. You'll have to give up the R compund tires for street tires, but it is a good trade...

Definitely run STX. You can probably keep most of your mods and save major $$$ because you won't have to buy DOT Competition tires.

You can run any size tire as long as it fits on stock sized wheels and offset within 1/4".

DOT legal racing tires are allowed in stock class. So Kumho V700s, VictorRacers, Hoosiers, BFG, and Toyo RA1.

STX? What's this STX? Is STS still around? Sorry, I haven't kept up with the latest I guess.

STX is basically the equivalent of STS except it is for the cars currently excluded (i.e. TypeR, WRX, DSM's, Sentra SE-R Spec V, etc).

Here are the rules (as posted by SlowSER earlier):

STX
1) All allowances in STS would carry over, including street tires, rim restrictions,
emissions, etc.
2) All restrictions regarding body type carry over.
3) Engine size allowance: up to 5.1, normally aspirated and 2.0, forced induction
(single turbo or supercharger).
4) Only factory limited slip differentials (LSD) are allowed on AWD vehicles, as defined in Section 12.4. For 2WD vehicles and AWD vehicles that did not come
with any type of limited slip differential (including center differential or transfer case), a single aftermarket LSD may be added.
5) High flow catalytic converters are allowed, but must attach within six inches
of the original unit.
6) Alternate motor mounts and/or engine locators (bobble struts) sold by the
vehicle's manufacturer or their Motorsports subsidiary or affiliate
(Chrysler / Mopar, Toyota / TRD, Honda/Mugen, etc.) are allowed.
7) Alternate driver and front passenger seats are allowed, but they cannot be
constructed of a solid outer shell and must have a suspended bottom cushion
and be fully upholstered.
8) Brake rotors and calipers are unrestricted, but must attach to the original
attachment points.
9) Additionally excluded cars: BMW M3 (E36 and E46), BMW M5 (all).
