I was reading this article http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/ar...echno_1101.jsp and started to think about how I wanted a gear box that was more streamlined than this. So... let's talk gearing... I've got a engine and transmission from an ITR.

What would be needed to avoid this (if it even is a problem). I don't really care if the car doesn't do 0-60 between 1-2 gear. I want all the gears to keep me in my powerband. Anyone got any referance material on building a kick *** gearbox?

To get a tranny to be perfect you need to know the powerband of the specfic engine that you are putting it on. Once you know the powerband of the engine you can figure out the gearing from there.

...well the OEM JDM ITR 4.785 final drive never fails to impress people. I suggest purchasing one of these kits for your ITR tranny. It's way more affordable than any aftermarket FD kits. ($400-500). You will definitely stay in the meaty part of the powerband with a 4.7fd...

 

might want to run a gsr 4/5 with that stack too, that 4785 with the r gears is pretty zippy
