Hey guys. I posted a while back asking if the Y8 alternator would work on a Z6 and nobody quite knew if it would. So i'm here asking again if anyone knows if the Y8 Alternator will work for sure on a Z6.

Pretty sure it wont work. Being that y8 is obd2 and z6 is obd1 the plugs arnt the same. OBD1 Dohc and OBD2 DOHC are this way so I figure the same would go for singles.

 

anyone know for sure?

 

It will bolt up without modification and won't plug into the OBD-1 harness.

Hmm.. well the original owner had put a Y8 into this EG that I bought... And he also gave me the Z6 that was originally in there.. He told me he didn't modify the wiring harness at all So is it possible that the guy swapped the Z6 alternator over to the Y8? Because the wiring harness seemed to plug into the alternator just fine.

I dont know i'm really confused because I can't get a hold of a guy to ask him what exactly he swapped over from the Z6 onto the Y8. So i'm trying to figure this all out. One thing I know for sure is he put the Z6 intake manifold on the Y8
