Default DC5 TYPE R CAMS in a 03 K24a?

I have a question. Does anyone know if it is possible to put some DC5 ITR cam shafts into a k24 head? I've found some cheap JDM DC5 ITR cam shafts online, but im wondering if it will run in a k24 head. I know for a fact that all K series motors have DOHC but only single side VTEC. The only K series motor with dual side VTEC is both the USDM Acura RSX type S and the JDM Integra Type R. Will the camshafts work in the head even though the k24 has VTEC running only on the intake cam?

um...dual cams, but only one side has vtec lobes...???....im not a K series expert, but are you sure?????.......i thought the k20-r heads were a direct swap onto the k24 block....wouldnt the conversion to dual cam vtec require different oil lines/routes/etc, or at least fuel maps?

Im 90% certain you cannot swap dc5 cams into a k24a head. You can swap the dc5 head onto the k24 block though.

so in other words, if i wanted those cams to run on my k24 i'd have to swap the dc5 head onto the k24a block? Because yeah, im sure the entire k series has dohcs but the vtec spools only on one side. I guess it makes sense you would need to swap over the entire dc5 head. Thanks

Not only a head swap, but an ECU swap/reprogram also.

Don't forget that there is also a k24 with performance VTEC - it's found in the Acura TSX.

Also the K series of engines are all chain driven and the older Honda engines were all belt driven.
